Tatika has been dancing since 1974. She was a charter member of Tambra's Mecca Caravan Dance Troupe and stayed with the troupe for over twenty years. She studied with Jamila and Suhaila Salimpour, Mahmoud Reda, Serena of New York and a host of others including Hadia, Margo Abdo O'Dell, Amaya, Katia and Raqia Hasan.
She has done belly-grams and danced at seminars, charity events, schools, libraries, Middle Eastern Festivals and restaurants. She is proficient using zills, sword, cane and tambourine during her performances, and was with Tambra when she (Tambra) pioneered playing dumbec while dancing at the same time in the United States. Tatika prefers Egyptian style but has also performed Turkish, Saidi, Moroccan and Ghawazee styles. She teaches a combination of choreography utilizing footwork and body work. She also teaches veil and can teach floorwork. She was the only instructor employed by Fun/Ed in Dallas for almost eighteen years and currently teaches in her own studio and boutique in Mesquite.
