about me
I'm a ghettofabulicious grad student who is interested in everything. I spent the first half of my twenties seeing the world, learning languages, and seeing things in general. Then around 25, I came back, got into grad school, and have been getting as much learning into my head ever since. I guess the most important thing to me is learning. The thing I love the most in life is when there is something that I don't understand - a language, a part of the world, a text, a complicated theory - and then suddenly I get it, or I get it even more. I live for these times, and I like and identify with people who share a similar passion for learning. In terms of what I am interested in at the moment, other than the subject of my degree - Arabic - I would say - Semitic and Asian Languages and lingusitics, theoretical linguistics (not applied!), computer science and discrete mathematics, computational linguistics, machine learning, and other related tasks. I'm not saying I'm particularly good at these things, but I still do love them. In terms of what I like in moments of liesure or whatever, I guess I'd say I enjoy the finer things in life - good cuisine, good film, friends, that sort of thing.
