We will be expanding our demonstrations at fair offering 3 presentations each day of fair and a daily drawing for merchandise. I am also considering proposing simple period food cooking classes next symposium. If you are interested in attending such cooking classes, please l... read more

We did it. We took the plunge into the vendor pool. We are getting our final papers together and plan to apply to several fairs next year. The business will primarily focus on historic cookery using authentic ingredients and period-reproduction kitchenware.

I'll be doing demos, perhaps some workshops, as well as selling artisan kitchen accessories and handmade linens. And I am setting up a web store to sell rare period spices.

A Mawmenye of Gyngere & Skirrets

The Period Soup/Stew Competition:

Northwinds entered The Iron Chef Renaissance Cook Off at Kearney Renaissance Festival this year and won first prize! I was honored to be able to prepare our entry. My dear friend Steve donated lamb so I based the stew on the Medievalish dish created by Madeline Cosman 'Mawmenye' (Lentils with Lamb) .
