Big beautiful coop. Small cozy room. You?

Malverna Brown.

It's the type of place that really needs its own name.

Join our beautiful house. Our community. Our house meals, our jams, our events, and classes. Get inspired and run off to do your own project or see if someone wants to collaborate. Everyone brings different skills and passions to the table.

The focus of the house is in the public spaces. We maximize play space.

People are usually pretty impressed when they walk up to the third floor music studio. Ready to jam, ready to record. It has a lot of interesting things that make sounds, and often times people in there who produce some good musica. Thursdays have turned into "jam nights" and the neighbors still seem to like us.

Who needs a living room anyway? Ours was quickly transformed into a dance studio. Every once in a while there's a class there. Other days there may be a massage, or one of the housemates just stretching. And on other nights the screen is pulled down to watch the new Netflix installment.

The second floor public space doubles as an arts & crafts room as well as an office. There may be an upholstery project underway or a human tinkering with wires to produce a robot. And don't forget the aquatron which produces the tunes. Two of us often work there during the day. A web developer and college art professor. The activist and massage therapist go elsewhere for their careers.

The backyard is a public space that changes over the course of the year. In the warmer months some of the housemates get into gardening, and during the colder months we've found solace in our new little hottub. A new acquisition thanks to the guy who's place you'd be taking.

The last, and arguably most important public space is the kitchen. It's big, and beautiful and pretty clean. Really. The kitchen is buzzing a couple nights of week in the preparation for the house meals. People here can cook too.

In fact, they have to.

Each person cooks one night a week. Meaning you will too. That's one of our rules.

Yes, we're artists, but there are rules - community works better when there's a little structure. Most of the housemates, who range in age from 27-40, have lived in cooperative living situations before, so they garnered the best of all those past experiences. Yes, there's a chore wheel. We pay for food collectively and have a great system that simplifies all the expenses. We have a house meeting whenever we need to talk something through... but things really run smoothly, so we probably only meet once every two months.

We want a fresh infusion of energy. What are you into? What's your favorite game? What's your favorite stretch? What's your favorite thing to cook? What do you practice?

So the bedrooms are the smallest rooms in the house and your bedroom is also the smallest of the bedrooms, but you'll pay less than the rest of us. The room also has its own porch, a long porch, and the view is nice. Downtown Boston. There's a lofted bed in there now that can be removed if you want.

What else...

washing, dryer, & dish washer. internet. big basement for storage space and a nice workarea. Forest Hills and the Arboretum are less than 2 miles. a nice landlord and neighbors. It's a family area, and a fairly diverse community. there's a moat around the perimeter.

Ok, there's no moat.

Write to as at malvernabrown@gmail.com and give us a taste of who you are and what you'd bring to this house. Looking forward to some interesting reading.

Peace

the Malverna Brown residents
