Tue, April 1, 2008 - 10:20 AMSleep is shifting away.
In my room cold flakes drift down
From an impossibly white ceiling,
Dissolve and run down my cheeks.
It’s snowing here.
I become an ice maiden
Under my dark cave of blankets.
There’s someplace else I need to be.
I step among the falling flakes of snow
Between the falling and the fallen.
Through the window
There’s a city softly sleeping
It’s unfamiliar to me.
Below in the street are people,
They howl at the moon.
What shook them from dreams?
I watch shadows hide in the trees,
See myself reflected fragmented in frost.
It’s unfamiliar to me.
Tomorrow an eye might melt
Those bound aghast unseen
Gazing glassy eyed at frozen straits unfamiliar.
