back in BC (blog entry) We made our way back to BC.....no real truck dramas the entire way - just some pesky ontario and manitoba mosquito drama, but we got through it. We arrived in Nelson last Friday night, and met up with Christa and Kiah the next morning at the marke... read more

the great global warming swindle (blog entry) Paul found this documentary, The Great Global Warming Swindle, at the library, and told me about it. I found it on google video, and just watched it.....and thought it was awesome. I found it paralleling another documentary I saw last week on a di... read more

brewery (blog entry) Tonight I went to the Queen City Brewery near my parents' house. They have live music 7-9pm twice a week - I saw an old timey band with stand up bass, fiddle, guitar, banjo whom were good enough on their instruments. I really like to hear some of ... read more

We made our way back to BC.....no real truck dramas the entire way - just some pesky ontario and manitoba mosquito drama, but we got through it. We arrived in Nelson last Friday night, and met up with Christa and Kiah the next morning at the market :) It is super hot here, lots of swimming.....anyhow, we are going to come out to Hornby for a visit probably in august. Stuff is in a storage unit until we're done cruising around during summer and find a place to rent here in sept/oct. At least ... read more

Paul found this documentary, The Great Global Warming Swindle, at the library, and told me about it. I found it on google video, and just watched it.....and thought it was awesome. I found it paralleling another documentary I saw last week on a different subject (Bill Moyer's Journal:Buying the War) in that they both illustrate how those who's responsiblilty it is to relay information to the public (media) have this tendency NOT to dig deep into the situation/condition in question - to take s... read more

Here is a link to an inspiring interview about a Thai farmer/earth builder who hooked up with activists from an Ashram in Thailand to teach/build earthen buildings to struggling and thus very receptive Thai peoples. He gives examples of how the shift in lifestyle 30 years ago (from a community, shared everything, help one another kind of life) to the current (privacy, working for money causing more debt, isolation) has caused a loss of "community". Tonight I went to the Queen City Brewery near my parents' house. They have live music 7-9pm twice a week - I saw an old timey band with stand up bass, fiddle, guitar, banjo whom were good enough on their instruments. I really like to hear some of the traditional songsof the region, especially the minor sounding ones. There were families, elders and children dancing, and free beer and wine samples. This place is a U-Brew, but its quite different than the Ubrews in ON. There are large container... read more

I'm in Virginia now, visiting for a few weeks. As soon as I arrive I usuallly find out what's going on in the area - and Ralph Nader was coming to Charlottesville (25 mins over the mtn. - where all the fun happens) for a free lecture at UVA. And so I went to listen to his lecture "While you were watching Big Brother, Big Brother was watching you; what students should know, what students should do". WOW! It was just awesome.
Ralph was STELLAR. He seems so intelligent, clear, laid back, open,... read more
