The Meaning of Life

My Bio

Age

about me
Post-modern Boho writer, part-time baby belly dancer, full-time dreamer, cracker jack boogie boarder. Both afflicted and cursed with a twisted sense of humor. Serial monogomist marriage-phobe who still believes in the possibility of finding a life companion...as long as I don't have to live with him (note: this phobia does not extend to Cormac McCarthy, Tom Waits, Tommy Lee Jones, Eugene Hutz or Javier Bardem).

Very eclectic tastes in music...except for a deep love for old-time blues, I generally prefer music that defies genre. For that matter, I prefer *anything* that defies genre, including people.

I am creative, passionate, funny, inconsistent, impulsive and/or spontaneous, (depending on whether you like me or not), a rebel without a clue; a pathological reader, a mother, lover, friend. I laugh every single day of my life. Have been accused of being "too dark", but I prefer to think of myself as cheerfully cynical.

I'm a proud Sagittarian Dragon--the only tattoo I have is a small dragon on my ankle. I'm intolerant of intolerance, resentful of admina-speak, uselss meetings, talking heads, politicians and warmongers.

When I'm in love, I don't love with all my heart; I love with my entire soul. I'm an outgoing loner; I love people but I tend not to seek them out because I'm so firmly entrenched in my head that I sometimes forget the world around me.

I am legally insane (no, really) and I love most men, though many women tend to scare me. I am almost never bored; people, one on one, never bore me.

I can sign "Baby Got Back" in American Sign Language, am fascinated with almost any kind of mysticism/spirituality, know every single word of dialogue to "The Godfather" and can make the best damn lasagna west of Sicily.

Short-term goal: to have the guts to post a video of myself performing; long-term goal: live past 45.

and i'm tired of how women's fashion becomes sluttier and sluttier. halloween is one huge highlighter of that. women's halloween costumes are just exercises in "stripper-for-a-day-ism" perpetrated by the companies who ma... read more

Re: that was bad ass! (in The Foul, Drunk & Hostile Bellydancer) Hey--hand abrasions are just one of those things that make you wince, like anything having to do with teeth or fingernails.

Re: 10 Husbands, Still a Virgin (in The Foul, Drunk & Hostile Bellydancer) I've always felt that stamp collectors don't get the respect they deserve....or auctioneers...

OMG! Can it be? (in The Foul, Drunk & Hostile Bellydancer) Am I really on Tribe without being kicked off? It has literally been a month since I've been able to post.

Tribe hates Mac. I'm convinced.

I already posted this on Facebook, but it bears repeating:

"After around 40 minutes even God gets tired of listening."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Guess who has no patience with pointless staff meetings. ;-)

Mimi was the strongest, bravest and healthiest person I've ever know. There are times in which I felt that she was actually carrying me. In fact, she was so strong that when I got the early AM phone call--never good news--I thought it was my mother, my step-father, a friend...it literally never occurred to me that my Mimi--at age 84--would die on us.

She was the grand dame of this family, the true matriarch with no heir apparent. She was the glue that kept this family together and I honest... read more

Recently, our receptionist (who has a bachelor's degree, BTW) left her crappy, low-paying job and we all panicked...mostly because we would all hate her job and we hate taking turns doing it.

Crappy job? When we advertised for the position we got *93*-count'em-93 applicants. Many of them were educated. A couple were engineers; one had his Ph.D. All for a low-paying, "part-time" (just a few hours shy of 40 hours) wage position without any benefits. I didn't realize just how bad the economy ... read more

The office is making me do monkey work today, so I'm rebelling by wasting as much time as possible. Wanna play? Okie-doke. Take the survey and change your answers (these are mine, so hands off).

If you read this then I want you to fill this out so I can learn more about you. After you fill it out, tag people you want to know more about. Just copy this and then under profile choose notes, paste onto your notepad and then change the answers to whatever you want!

Bored.

Never in my life did I ever dream that I would find such a Mad Hatter Kindred Spirit. Fioletta is a wordsmith, not a writer, a forge maiden of the written word. Watch closely as she conquers all with quill and parchment. Ah my Fio-Fioletta... Start wearing purple for me baby and while you're at it... use purple ink.
