about me
My wife of 21 years and best friend, Kathleen, breathed her last in October of '06, a victim of metastatic breast cancer. She had been in a coma most of that last day, and her passing was peaceful. At her side were myself, son Tom, and daughter Michelle.
She was a constant comfort and joy to us all during her life. Her love of wildlife was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her artwork will continue to enrich the lives of those that collected it. May she rest in peace now. ------------- So... This means I'll be picking up the pieces of this life and walking on. Having been blissfully retired for the last half-dozen years, I'll be job hunting soon. Although looking forward to the new challenges, I'll miss having lots of free time to research stuff on the web. Perhaps I'll spin up my old used-book business "Browsers' Books" -- Got a couple of vehicles that sure could use the garage space! LOL... I'm a lover of natural history and happy owner of 2.5 acres of woodland with a small creek at the foot of the property. Frequently I play host to local deer and racoons and a wonderful variety of birds. I practice a form of Buddhist meditation regularly, and enjoy researching Buddhist history and philosophy. Owner of a couple of telescopes, I also delight in stargazing from time to time. Although I almost came away with a BS in Anthropology from the University of Michigan back in the late 60's, after a 5 month stint in Venezuela (mostly at the Orinoco River's headwaters), I became convinced that the last thing any self-respecting native needed was yet another missionary or anthropologist to with whom to contend. Subsequently, I earned an AA degree from the local community college and spent 20 years or so in the electronics industry.
