My Blog

It looks like Vipassana Meditation opened up the beginning stage of my Kundulini ... "awakening."

I didn't expect it nor had no idea of what to do with it. (I'm still not sure that this is the problem ... of if I've attracted negative demons.)

Naturally, my Christian background frowns on all this and tells me to pray harder to the Holy Spirit and push away this "Phenomenon."

Buddhism tells me to both work with it (to avoid Aversion) and to embrace it.

Yoga tells me to invite it in. In fact, some Yoga practices state to essentially pray and bow to these deities that I'm inviting into my psyche and soul. (Worrisome)

Religion Vs. Spirituality

Worrisome. Even a form of duality in itself. At this point, I'm beginning to lose my earlier definition of what "Spirituality" really is. This is more than just changing my behavior and my character. This is becoming aware that there really is an Occult ... that Mysticism and Paganism are real. So, there is a Supernatural and it is as real as the Natural world.

So ... that means there are spirits of light and spirits of darkness. (Back to Square One.) How do I not become fooled ... how do I not dishonor the God I believe in? How do I not transport to a hell realm when I drop this body?

“We need to make sure African-American farmers are visible because for a long time we’ve been invisible. We, as people, have played a tremendous part in agriculture throughout the United States. This is one last-ditch effort to say we do exist, even if it is in a small number,” said Fresno, California Black Farmer Will Scott, Jr.

The African American Farmer isn’t any more monolithic than the story of the black businessman or woman. To touch the surface is to feel a womb pregnant with thousands of stories. Will Scott Jr’s story … that of the “New” black farmer is merely one. But his is the type of farming that reflects the greatest possibility for immediate change in the quality of life for African Americans fleeing urban comfusion.

Currently we’re facing what some prognosticators predict might become FIVE years of the greatest economic challenges since the Great Depression. (I can still hear some of the stories my mother told me about life on 40 acres in Mississippi during the greatest period of economic challenge this country faced in its modern history. Her story in short? “We didn’t miss a meal.”)

Blacks migrated to build farms on the West Coast more than half a century ago. Many left the soil for jobs in California cities. Others, due to over a hundred years of USDA’s Institutionalized Racism, were forced off the land. Currently there are at least 300 African-American farmers in California. While it’s true that there are 80,000 farmers total, the fact that 300 of them are black is a heroic story in itself. It’s also something that Scott would like to change. As President of the African-American Farmers of California, Scott and co-founder Will Robinson, are helping new farmers setup in the area. In recent years they have even built a demonstration site where beginning farmers can test their skills and earn valuable, hands-on experience.

“We bring in new farmers and existing farmers and we do training. They can lease an acre or two and grow something and then they take the technology back to their farm,” Will said.

Another way Will is trying to market not only his produce, but the produce of all African-American farmers, is by making the nearly 400-mile round trip journey to one of the newest and most unique markets in California: West Oakland’s Mandela’s Farmers’ Market. Every Friday and Saturday, come rain or shine, this is where you’re sure to find Will and his family out sharing the fruits of their labor. Besides selling his fruits and vegetables, he’s also selling a little bit of the rural life to people who normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to see a ripe tomato or a fresh ear of corn.

“I think regardless of where people live, they should have access to fresh, quality produce, and that’s one of the main reasons we started coming to the market in the first place,” Will said.

Remember when Richard Pryor predicted that many black people will lose their cars and be forced to ride bicycles and scooters ... "and anyTHING else that will move!" Well, we now see how true that is.

I live in Oakland, California where economic racism is forcing blacks WAAYYY out to places like Antioch and Concord so that whites can again reclaim and gentrify the inner city. It's sad to see how little (or no) imagination is left in the black community. Reading too much "Vibe" and watching rap videos I guess....

So, I conclude that it really is later than you think. While brothers (and sisters) are running around trying to be black-white men and loving everything but themselves, I see:

1.) The people (Mexicans) who are currently picking cotton, will become middle class
2. ) Those "true to Thug Life" will be forced into work prisons and they (or their children) will actually be picking cotton AGAIN!

California (and many other states) the black dollar has been written off. New Rome (America) is most likely now the world's third largest economy. Many feared the day this would happen because they worried that many other mult-nationals would pull their money out. (That's what all that ... "put your social security into the stock market" was about...)

Plus, the recent Sub Prime Mortgage debacle gives rise to the old rumors about a possible Global Recession. (We already know that there will be a Global Water Shortage sometimes before 2014.) So ... what do black folk do? Work together to purchase farmland and relearn how to work, live and love each other again? No ...

We still have people running around demanding Reparations. Everybody is bringing a covered dish to New Rome's sinking table and the political choice the Michael Vick's in our community can come up with is to demand a free ride?

Will the children of the people who walked out of African and peopled the world ... once again be reduced to picking cotton??

I'm living in Oakland, California. The Bay Area is one of the MOST diverse places on earth. Racism doesn't dance in sheets here, but economic racism is HUGE ... and getting bigger.

We who preached the glories of the Third World back in the 60s won. The Third World is now here … and they don’t like us. (LOL) Many DO ... but more don't and who can blame them? They are teaching us some powerful lessons, and we really need pick up our game.

1. Quote: "A business should remake itself when it is at the peak of its success. Failure to do so means that it's competition will adjust come up with new ideas before it can adjust."

2. Quote: "The only constant is change." Change is the only thing we KNOW will happen ... we can no longer afford denial ... a doomed ostrich sticking it’s head in the sand--hiding from the upcoming storm. YOU BETTER START RUNNING !!!

3. China and India will VERY soon become the world's biggest economic powers. Multinationals are just waiting to pull their money out. There’s a Global Recession coming. WHO gets hurt most in “recessions”?? Rich Republicans LOVE recessions. Turning into a black republican ain’t going to hep you. (Notice all the folks who’s homes are now in Foreclosure? )

4. It's far too late to be angrily mumbling that "Mexicans need to go back where they came from." The Jinni is out of the bottle. They are eating our lunch and soon, many more white folks lunch too. They are showing us where our game is weak. A brother needs an 18th Century skill and a 21st Century skill to survive.

5. "My enemy - my friend" say the Buddhist. God told gave us two main instructions ... Love God and love your neighbor ... even when he doesn’t love you back. Once poor Asians and Mexicans are now driving the cars we used to drive, living in the houses our homeless asses used to live in, and working in the jobs we used to complain about and would die to have back. How'd they do it? Yeah ... they had a "little help" ... but basically they built a better mouse trap. Provided a better service, and pooled their money. They lived together when they needed to. Supported each other economically, physically, emotionally, intellectually and CULTURALLY. Time for us to do the same.. and if you're living and suffering in that "inner city" ... maybe it's time to move.

DO NOT FALL FOR HATING "Dem Foreigners". Step up ~ not down. Governments love to pit people against each other. Only the rich win that way. Henry J. Kaiser put it this way: "A problem is an opportunity in work clothes." And brothers and sistas ... we gots lots of "opportunities" rolling all ova us.
