This is the remains of one of the landing gear assemblies. It's a pretty large, and strong piece.

Here's what the engine should have looked like before the crash. The fairing make it hard to see very well. The section behind the propeller is where oil pressure is regulated, to control the pitch of the blades. Even this component had been ripped off!

Here's a wrecked engine. The desert preserves metal objects. The prop had been ripped off, the aluminium heads melted away, and all the rubber pieces vaporized.

I'm planning to hike Mt. Potosi, on the Southwest side of the Las Vegas Valley. In '42 Carole Lombard perished in this plane wreck: in the subsequent entries, which could easily have been avoided had the pilot had adjusted his altimeter properly. I've enlcosed a picture of a plane which is the same make and model of the wreck: which was TWA.

Sorry if some of these posts get self indulgent, and talk about ME. I am a "very" interesting man, and as a result, I like to talk about ME! In fact, I have to use the word "ME" in every sentence; whether it's warranted or not.
Went to the gym, had the best work out in half a year; ME.
I had been just going through the motions for the past six months, but I think that's it's starting to show for ME.
I've been trying to diet, but all I get is fatigue and crankiness, although I did lose three pounds; ME.
If I get through this I think the result will me that I'm a muscular guy with a not too flat stomache :-(: ME!
