about me
I'm a perpetual student, currently doing post-graduate work in Religious Studies. With any luck, I'll be starting my doctorate in September '08. My focus is on phenomenology of religion, neo-paganism, critical theory of magic, history of witchcraft, ritual studies, and nature-based religious movements.
I devote most of my energy outside school to bellydancing. I started taking classes in June of '06 and I'm constantly working on honing my technique and branching out into many different styles. So far I've had training in American cabaret style and Improv Tribal Style belly dance. I'm looking to learn more about tribal fusion, and traditional Romany, Uzbek and Turkish folk dancing. I knit to unwind, and am a hopeless yarn addict. I love creating things, and I work on making my own costumes whenever possible, despite my lack of sewing skill. Music is also a deep love of mine - my collection includes a very wide variety ranging from folk music to classical to operatic metal. I'm a compulsive LARPer, and am very happily handfasted.

(in Bellydancing/ handspinning/ fiber freaks)
I wish I could but it's a hike from New Jersey. I'll think of you gals while I'm spinning, though! I finished another hank of purple 2-ply handspun on my drop spindle last night and it's drying now. I need to get a bigger spindle for plying, I ...

Re: Yarn for Tribal Fusion belt
(in DIY/ Bellydance on a Budget)
I doubt you'll find Colinette at chain craft stores. If you do, though, let me know! More likely, you'll find it at a locally run yarn store, and it retails for $22 per 57 yards or something ridiculous like that. CucumberpatchUK on eBay sells i...

Re: Question for the Turkish Rom dancers out there...
(in !Turkish Style!)
Sorry, Astrid. It's late, and I'm tired. I just realized it wasn't Rom who responded to my comment. Thank you for the info, though. :)
