For the new year I seem to be reaping the harvest of my hard work and clear intentions set in the previous year.

I finally quit smoking and have 30 days nicotine-free! Yay!

I just started a really kewl job working as a counselor with dual-diagnosis high-school-aged youth! It feels like a really great fit.

I'm also engaged to get serious with my most primary partner - we've been dating for a year now! Woo-hoo!

So all in all I'm having a really great year! :)

I'm just finishing up my first year of grad school with a 4.0 GPA, and I've re-established a nice community of friends and lovers. So all my goals have been met! ;)

Well, maybe I still have a few things to work on. Like finding work in my new field - counseling psychology.

Thanks to all of you who have made my transition back to the Bay Area so great! :)

Big life changes for me lately with my move to the south SF Bay area to go to grad school. New housemates, suburban culture shock, really enjoying my classes. Now I just need a few more quality friends and lovers! :)

Looking forward to it! :)

Re: Healthy boundary or controlling behavior? (in Polyamory) I like that suggestion Edward, of uncovering the unmet need underlying the request.

Re: infidelity in polyamorous relationships.. (in Polyamory) In practical terms, this is why I personally find any more than 3 or 4 relationships unmanageable, because there are too many relationships in the system for me. It's just too complex for me to deal with on a practical level.

For others, the op... read more

Re: infidelity in polyamorous relationships.. (in Polyamory) To illustrate:

For 2 people or nodes, there is 1 connection or relationship (a line segment).
For 3 people or nodes, there are 3 connections or relationships (a triangle).
For 4 people or nodes, there are 6 connections or relationships (a squ... read more

Re: infidelity in polyamorous relationships.. (in Polyamory) The book "The Myth of Monogamy" puts forth the argument that simultaneous mate-guarding while seeking extra-pair couplings (EPCs) is a naturally occurring phenomenon in most of the animal kingdom, including humans.

This behavior, that we humans... read more

Re: people get hurt (in Fluid Relationships) Always a tricky situation, when a relationship is a secret.

Lots of poly people say that it's not their business.

Personally I believe that these types of secrets affect the whole system of people involved, and IMHO the hurt really stems fro... read more

Re: infidelity in polyamorous relationships.. (in Polyamory) Actually IMHE being able to understand another's framework doesn't really translate into them understanding mine. At least not on the internet LOL.

Re: infidelity in polyamorous relationships.. (in Polyamory) The converse can be equally silly:

"You're poly, so your partner can do anything they want, so that's not cheating."

By some people's poly framework and usage, this is absolutely correct.
