The ignominy of the clumsy

   Tue, March 25, 2008 - 10:37 PM
I may be either very scarce over the next couple of weeks or terrible present here at tribe, my dears. In a rare act of clumsiness I managed to break my toe last night by... walking too fast into the cats' scratching post. On one hand I would like to blame the force that obviously enable such an injury on my mad Tai Chi skillz which oh so clearly resulted in a nicely energized stride.

On the other, I suspect that it was no such thing and merely my own brand of physical humor run away with itself. Just once I'd like to have a rational conversation with that Physical Sense of Humor of mine and explain that truly neither bloodshed nor broken limbs--even small limbs-- are necessary on my behalf for the masses to laugh.

"Truly," I might tell that wily old Sense of Humor, "a straw in the eye while trying to drink will suffice." But no, that dear old Sense of Humor-- Phyzzy for short-- just has to have something original every time. And so, I am left with my splendidly purple toe, a cold pack, and a bottle of pain killers.

Still, I like purple well enough. I'm thinking that with the right toe nail polish and a sassy skirt, the purple toe might work for me as a fashion statement. But then again, maybe that's the pain killers talking. One never knows.
