<div>To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.'
When the Universe takes something from your grasp, it is not punishment, but merely giving you the opportunity to open your hands to receive something better.

Think about this:

'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

Thank you</div>

<div>I have made it a policy to not blog too much about my personal life. I/we, all play in too small a sandbox to not have recriminations and fallout happen from the Jr high behavior and the rumors that abound in our playground. As I know too well from friends experiences, blogs
that are posted "as friends only" are often copied and forwarded onto a third semi-interested party, usually under the guise of "I thought you should know about this".

Why then am I compelled to break my silence and share my thoughts with the world? I am not sure. It could be that with my birthday approaching that i find myself reflecting on the past year and looking forward to what I want to create in the coming one.
There have been 2 incidents in the past couple of weeks that have given me pause. Both have to do with how I view myself and my sexuality.

The first concerns someone who DID NOT make a pass at me. We had flirted, kissed, that was all. There seemed to be a a bit of a spark. Then I spent several hours in his company alone and nothing happened.
Huh? Did I smell? Am i ugly? hmmm.
So I asked.
The reply knocked me on my ass.
"Sex is sex. I'd like to get to know a person, become friends."
oh.
Well that's a different response.
Unexpected respect. that's new.

The second was when an old lover propositioned me. I said no. And meant it. The urges that a prolonged kiss started were not strong enough to overcome the realization that sex WAS sex and that was NOT what I am looking for.

Yes I am horny. And that's what vibrators are for.

Or as I have done in the last few weeks, I have chosen to channel that energy into working and taking care of myself. I am walking in the mornings. 1.5 miles in about 25 minutes. Not too bad. And it's not all flat - there are a couple of hills that raise my heart rate quite nicely.

So all of this has given me quite a bit of food for thought. And along with that came fear.
Do I have the skills to build a friendship with a man that may or may not lead to a relationship?
Can I survive in a relationship - the real inner me? Can I stick to my principals, keep my integrity, be myself?
What if . . .
They reject me? Don't like me?

F- False
E- Expectations
A- Appearing
R- Real

Who am I?
What do I want?

I am a very strong capable INTENSE loving woman.
I am "overwhelming" at times. Yes that's right. Deal with it. It's part of my universal charm and why I'm loved by all!
I am a loyal friend, a talented costumer, a professional at which ever career I am pursuing at the time,
I care about the people I know and the events I am involved with.
Sometimes that comes across as mean, bitchy, what ever - to those who make not understand my passion and commitment.

Change the pattern -
I am learning to fall in love with myself - all of me. For the first time in my life walking and making healthy choices are NOT about making myself more attractive to a man, they are about making sure I can still be here at 91. Maybe I'll run Bay- to Breakers. 2053. Sounds like a plan.

What's the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

I want a relationship. Not an all consuming, soul splitting one - one that is a true partnership - with mutual respect and friendship.
I miss having someone to cuddle with, who strokes my hair, who cares if I made it home and who understands that a woman like myself can have needs and not be "needy".

I like living by myself. But I'd like to have a drawer somewhere other than my place that houses a few personal items.

i want someone who has their own life, interests, hobbies. Ones that are compatible with my own. Someone who is as comfortable with me spending time alone or with friends on my own as I am with their doing the same.

Someone who'd say - "Okay let's go see a movie - you're taking the evening off".
I really like going to movies or watching DVD's - I just don't let myself do it that often.
Now that's a tape that needs to be erased - "You can't go out and play till your work is done"

They MUST love my cats!

Someone who believes as I do :
My life is created by my thoughts - therefore I can change my reality by choosing to do so.
Only I can decide who I am - who I want to be
My words and thoughts carry great power - I shall choose them with care
I will learn from the past, live in the moment &amp; dream for the future

It is not what happens to me in this world that matters, it is how I respond to it.

In conclusion - for those of you who are still with me - &amp;lt;grin>
I wake daily with a smile on my face and peace in my soul. No, really. I do!
I love my life and am content.
It's spring, the hills are green, the purple lupines and brilliant orange poppies grow side by side. Different flowers, yet so complementary. Like men &amp; women.
When the time comes - who ever I choose to share it with is going to be very lucky and very special. </div>

    </a>
<div>Last night I had the pleasure of spending 2 hours or so in the company of 4 incredibly talented musicians. James Nash, Warren Hood, Joe Kyle Jr. and Chuck Hamilton are The Waybacks
http://www.waybacks.com/index.html

I keep attempting to describe how I felt last night - and I can't. Everything I write seems trite or makes me sounds too much like a 16 yr old groupie. So I keep erasing. and I keep writing. &amp;lt;grin>

They used to be 5. Stevie Coyle has gone away from The Waybacks - and in the first set his voice, humor and finger picking was definitely missed. I will have the pleasure of hearing Stevie's talents on the 12th, so I"m not TOO bummed.

Check them out - The "boys" will be playing at the Freight &amp; Salvage on May 15th - it's a Thursday night and well worth staying out late for!
If you'd like to spend an evening having your soul blown right out of your head - come on down. I'll be working the concessions table.
If I can convince my soul to let me stay on the ground.

<div>It is not enough for me to ask question; I want to know how to answer the one question that seems to encompass everything I face: What am I here for?
Abraham Joshua Heschel

I hate it that at this time of year I start to ponder this question. Do others have this type of thing running through their heads as well? I just don't want to be at the end of my life, on my death bed and THEN finally "get" it!

Some days being an adult really sucks.</div>

Lost Colony buildings destroyed in fire

Villa Dunes citizen saves Waterside Theatre (article below)

(Manteo, NC – September 11, 2007) On 11 September 2007 at 12:35 A.M., a resident of Villa Dunes spotted a fire across the sound on Roanoke Island, and called 911. Part of The Lost Colony’s Waterside Theatre was in flames. All fire departments north of Oregon Inlet responded.

Fire crews worked swiftly and efficiently to control the blaze, and take necessary precautions to save the nearby men’s dressing room structure. In spite of their efforts, the maintenance shed, which appears to have been at or near the source of the fire was completely destroyed. Charred pieces of framing in a flimsy skeleton, pointing irregularly toward the star-lighted sky, appear to be all that remains of what was the Irene Rains Costume Shop. All of the show costumes, all of the historic costumes, all of the fabrics, all of the shoes and hats are traditionally stored in the costume shop. All are lost—except the court costumes which fortunately are still at the dry cleaners, and a few that have already been delivered to the NC Museum of History for the Lost Colony exhibition scheduled to open in October.

All of the colonist costumes,

and all of the Indian costumes were destroyed.

All of the vintage costumes are lost

—all those built by Irene Rains in the 1940s and 1950s;

and all of Fred Voelpel’s in the 1960s, 70s and early 80s;

MANY OF 5-TIME TONY AWARD-WINNING DESIGNER WILLIAM IVEY LONG'S

COSTUMES WERE ALSO DESTROYED.

No other structures appeared to have been damaged. The Nags Head resident who reported the fire saved the theatre.

Ironically, 60 years ago, on 24 June 1947, a late afternoon fire destroyed two-thirds of the Waterside Theatre and most of the sets and props. The costumes in the 1947 disaster escaped the flames, however, because of costumer Irene Rains’ quick action in removing them from the dressing rooms and casting the items on the shore. There was no possibility of saving anything from the current disaster. From the point of arrival of the firemen, it was impossible to enter the building. The flames were already topping the trees.

Once again, The Lost Colony and its supporters must suffer the loss of their history and re-build. Community support is critical and a fund will be established for the replacement of the costumes.

Lost Colony Costume Shop a total loss;

Waterside Theatre saved

(Manteo, NC – September 12, 2007) Firefighters succeed in controlling the devastating blaze, but the entire contents of The Lost Colony’s costume shop which includes 80% of the active production costumes, were consumed by an early morning fire on Monday September 11th. The swift reaction of the fire fighters and Dare County Emergency Management saved the Waterside Theatre and remaining buildings.

Despite the loss, the show will go on. The Lost Colony’s producing organization, the Roanoke Island Historical Association Board of Directors, had an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss future plans for the rebuilding and replacement of the costume shop. “Whenever there is a disaster of this magnitude, you put one foot in front of another and keep going. You don’t look behind, you look to the future. The Lost Colony has rebounded from tragedy before and the show will go on next season. This dream will live forever,” said John Tucker, Chairman of Board of Directors for the Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA), producer of The Lost Colony.

The outpouring of support from friends, alumni, and the community has been a source of comfort for The Lost Colony Company. East Carolina Bank is accepting donations for the Costume Shop Replacement Fund at all branch locations. Additional donation information can be found at www.thelostcolony.org or by calling 252-473-2127.

<div>Sun Sign
Rams live life head first; after all, those horns on your head are not just for fighting. Your headstrong nature can make you a "battering ram" and woe is the person who stands in your way. You Rams are noted for your courage and leadership qualities, primarily because you are nearly always ready for action. The need for excitement pushes you into new territory -- and as long as you are ahead of others while demonstrating confidence, chances are that they will follow you. As self-ordained leader of the pack, you fight for what you believe to be important. But it's not that you are fearless. Your courage is more of a commitment to face your fears and overcome them.

Motto: "Ready, fire, aim!”
Greatest Strength: Your courage to overcome fear
Possible Weakness: Not finishing things you start

Your Moon Sign: Cancer Moon 26° Cancer 53'

Cancer is the home sign of the Moon, which indicates that you are a very lunar or feeling-oriented person. These strong emotional instincts tend to make you protective of those close to you, expressing a maternal quality of care and concern. Preserving traditions tends to be more appealing than heading into uncharted territory, and this can make you slow to accept changes in your routine. You tend to be cautious about coming out of your shell, but you're also a builder who can slowly and carefully nurture a new business or organization. Because you feel so strongly, it can be hard to step back and take an objective look at your situation and discover alternatives to the position you're holding onto so tightly.

Motto: "Everything is personal."
Greatest Strength: Loyalty to those close to you
Possible Weakness: Allowing emotions to overcome logic

Your Rising Sign: Sagittarius Ascendant 13° Sagittarius 52' What's a rising sign?

You're a natural teacher, promoter or salesperson. With Sagittarius Rising you share what you know with high energy and enthusiasm like a preacher or a cheerleader. You tend to blow through the negativity others present by pushing forward your beliefs without showing any doubt. It's this obvious optimism that lifts you and those around you, bringing hope to the darkest of situations. But your natural focus tends to more on the big picture than on little details. Overlooking the small stuff can be a great asset at times because it keeps you from being distracted, but there are circumstances where it's important to bring your focus back from the far end of the horizon to an issue that's right in front of you.

Motto: "If I know something, I'll tell you about it."
Greatest Strength: Inspiring others with positive ideas
Possible Weakness: Coming across as a know-it-all

Your Chinese Sign: The Tiger

The TIGER … THE TERRIBLE TIGER

Mantra: My courage strengthens my path.

The strength of Tigers makes them dynamic and courageous. Outspoken on every subject, they are still tolerant and sensitive to the opinions of others. Kind to their fellows, Tigers can be short-tempered if they don't get their way. The Tiger balances between the passions and demands of the outside world and the comfort and inwardness of home. They tend to be philosophers with great intellect and think most about themselves and their families. Protecting their interests and loved ones to the utmost, they are generous with their love and affection.</div>

One of my favorite Quotes

<div> “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”</div>

<div>Fascinating: mindmedia.com/brainworks/profiler

Your Brain Usage Profile:

Auditory : 40%
Visual : 60%
Left : 64%
Right : 35%

Liz, you are somewhat left-hemisphere dominant and show a preference for visual learning, although not extreme in either characteristic. You probably tend to do most things in moderation, but not always.

Your left-hemisphere dominance implies that your learning style is organized and structured, detail oriented and logical. Your visual preference, though, has you seeking stimulation and multiple data. Such an outlook can overwhelm structure and logic and create an almost continuous state of uncertainty and agitation. You may well suffer a feeling of continually trying to "catch up" with yourself.

Your tendency to be organized and logical and attend to details is reasonably well-established which should afford you success regardless of your chosen field of endeavor. You can "size up" situations and take in information rapidly. However, you must then subject that data to being classified and organized which causes you to "lose touch" with the immediacy of the problem.

Your logical and methodical nature hamper you in this regard though in the long run it may work to your advantage since you "learn from experience" and can go through the process more rapidly on subsequent occasions.

You remain predominantly functional in your orientation and practical. Abstraction and theory are secondary to application. In keeping with this, you focus on details until they manifest themselves in a unique pattern and only then work with the "larger whole."

With regards to your career choices, you have a mentality that would be good as a scientist, coach, athlete, design consultant, or an engineering technician. You can "see where you want to go" and even be able to "tell yourself," but find that you are "fighting yourself" at the darndest times. </div>

I accept that my perception of reality may not be yours.
I will NOT take it personally.
I will listen and I will say Thank You.

I will do my best,
I will lead by example,
Yet I recognize that there is a gap.
I will make mistakes.

Remembering that my eyes are on the front of my face for a reason
I will keep moving forward, using the tools I now carry.
Knowing that if necessary
I will change my attitude to a positive one
And, If needs be,
I will fake it till I feel it.

Up until now I have been afraid to accept myself for who I am. alone
To accept my strength, my creativity, my wisdom &amp; my beauty.
I will no longer slap myself.
I am who I am -

<div>5 and 7 are my favorites. You?

1) Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

2) Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

3) Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

4) Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.

5) If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

6) If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

7) It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

8) Never buy a car you can't push.

9) Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

10) Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

11) Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

12) The second mouse gets the cheese.

13) When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

14) Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

15) You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

16) Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

17) We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

{So appropriate for our little world!}

18) A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

<div>So it;s been since the 30th of Jan since I posted. Been that long since I've been on tribe. Not having a fast and easily available internet conection has not been as difficult as I might have thought, Of course in Sept/Oct it could be suicide. I'll rectify it by them.

Just wanted to have those of you with Kitties hug them tightly. I had to put Max to sleep last week - peritonitus and pacreatitus too far gone to do anything to give him a quality of life.
ANd yesterday - Kaylar started having convulsions - 4 between midnight and 9 am. Took her to the vet - he thinks it is a brain tumor. sigh. so hug your cats and your dogs and say a prayer.

Offf to work know this is short and rather stark - but I just wanted to connect.</div>
