Blues For Central Avenue - Play opens Thu, FEB 12 8PM - MAR 7 in Hollywood
(events » arts)
Thursday, February 12, 2009 - 8:00 PM
I was lucky to see the preview last week and wanted to share this...
This is a play with music that captures the history of Central Avenue after WWII.
Being a fan of music, I was truly inspired. Before WWII, blacks in LA were bound by PICO blvd to the South. Central Ave was the hip location for music / talent / entertainment. I have lived the life of searching for venues and have an empathetic leaning for struggling musicians in general.
We live in a society that is just now evolving from those social limits... I implore you to step backward in time to see and hear what is was like. If anyone wants to go the night of FEB 26th, I am interested in doing it as a group. We have a few people interested already who are going on their own...
This is an historic piece and I do hope some of you feel inspired since it is in Hollywood (near Gower) at the WRITE ACT REPERTORY THEATRE - 6128 Yucca St, Hollywood, CA 90028
