Thanks to all who came to the first After Holidays Hafla! The 3rd Street Arts Space is a wonderful space and we will be back, after we recover. Thank you to all the performers who participated : ). The variety and talent was out standing and was a wonderful example of what this area has to offer. WOW I was amazed as always and my inner muse was well fed. Thank you to all who came to watch, who brought food, who helped out in all the little ways that I can't even begin to list. Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart. Las Cruces NM

So from Sunday afternoon 11/11 to Saturday afternoon 11/17 I will be in Las Cruces working. Most of the time my evenings will be free. So HELP! Suggestions of things to do, places to eat, so I do vegitate in my motel room.

A while back Ted and I responded to a casting call for extras in a local indie movie. Well its finally on the big screen. So this weekend we will be going to the Guild to watch Necroville. Check it out and see if you can find the two of us being very unlike our lovable selves. Its so fun bing painted up and gross.

Today was one of those days I went to see my 'pain specialist'. For me waking up in pain means HEY I am still alive. But once again something that is working for me has been recalled. So now instead of a cold spray to release my muscle trigger points which meant I was late to work... I get to have a supper fine thin needle poked into my skin, then feel for the most painful spot in the muscle bundle and lidocaine injected. So after I was able to get my balance back, go home and lay down for the rest of the day. And this I do to deal with pain that is not severe enough to disable me or to get some powerful narcotics form a regular doc. Oh but then thats right I can move (mostly) and don't have some lawyer, and want to be a productive member of society and not some druggie. What am I thinking! No I go though this so that I can have a somewhat full enjoyable life and not screw up the ecosystem with fluorocarbons. OK done with the vent. Now I will get ready for tribal class, were I will mostly watch because I dont think my balance is just back up to snuff yet.

some days

Some days can be fun. Friday I got to spend the day going all over Los Alamos looking at fault lines and then driving home though the Jemez., because of my job.. sweet. Then today (Saturday) I helped staff a first aid tent. Someone told me there were belly-dancers so I went to check them out. Opps big mistake I knew them and at the end I was dancing with them. But the best part was only 2 treatments at the whole event. AND no kids got hurt.. No heat cases, no drunks, no 911 calls. Nice and quiet and I didn't get sunburned either day Yeah! Tomorrow (Sunday) maybe I can do some work outside mmmmm.

This past weekend in El Paso at the Tempest Workshop and Enchanted Darkness Show was awesome. The workshop built on material from a previous workshop I attended. Being the only one from Albuquerque it could have been very lonely but the folks down there were very welcoming. Thanks everyone! :) The show was a wonderful variety of dancers and all were impressive. Anthurium's tribal piece was tight and magnificent. Saz hrah demonstrated that your can pour tons of emotion into a dance, and be incredible. The audience was receptive and open. I had a blast. I look forward to dancing with these folks again. And of course the 2 dances by Tempest were wonderful. They were of different forms and they each captured me. The workshops and the show gave me much food for though and more ideas for more dances to do.

Tempest will be doing a Workshop and Show on Saturday, July 14 in El Paso TX. I will be there attending the workshops. I will also be performing that evening at the show. The Shows proceeds will be donated to the Child Crisis Center of El Paso.

A Big Day

Today I spoke before one of the NM State Boards. I was so nervous but I knew this was an important step. I though I would be on my own with just another person from the office to back me up. BUT! When I got there I found people from other State Departments who were working on the project there. It went well I we got the first step of the proposal accepted and approved. Yeah,.... that means more work for the next presentation. We are ready and feel really positive about this.

The past month

This past month has been really tough on me. My migraines, my joints, people I thought were friends turning on me, father-in-law doing poorly and just plain craziness in our home. I think things are improving. Got my new job title, even thought they screwed up my paycheck. Starting new dance classes and getting ready for a performance. I have actually gotten complements the past few days. Now I think I might survive. The only challenge now is after so many years of teaching and having summers off, my new job is year round.
