about me
Cindy Emch likes to drive. She currently lives in San Francisco. She is also the lesbian lovechild of of Sally Bowles and Marlena Dietrich, with the heart and laughter of the former and the sophistication and mysteriousness of the latter, and also with just a little naughty undercurrent of the Big Bad Wolf.
She is addicted to road trips and muscle cars, has driven through 43 of the 48 landlocked states and has been in 13 car accidents - none of which were her fault, but one of which WAS a four car pile up on the freeway - YIKES! She can often be found writing highway poems and love letters to her adventures on a daily basis. Cindy is a writer, accordion player for the band Vagabondage, and pop culture nerd. She has in the past worked as a park ranger, dog grooming scheduler, pirate radio DJ, college radio DJ, telephone operation, queer open mic host, fry cook, accountant, film festival programmer, film reviewer, hot dog cooker and much much more. Cindy's work has been been published in the Can I Sit With You project, LodeStar Quarterly, There Journal, Tough Girls 2: More Down and Dirty Dyke Erotica edited by Lori Selke, It's So You: 35 Women on Fashion, Beauty and Personal Style edited by Michelle Tea, and numerous chapbooks. She believes that art can create change in the world and that it's not so hard to be nice to people. She also thinks that dirt smells like magic and gets lost in the woods on purpose.

so tonight originally i was planning to do a work bonding thing after hours. but lo and behold the cohort and i couldn't make it work. raincheck. so i get home and rooster is still at school planning for her thesis defense. so i practice accordion for an hour. then i do all of the dishes. then i dust. then i watch some trashy tv which just feels annoying and so instead i shut that off and work out.

friday i woke up full of snuggle. this to me is a good sign. i am often the fidgety bed cat once awake and really need to get up within a short span of approximately 10 minutes after consciousness hits. but friday i was full of soft burrow in sorts of cuddleness. work was also a good thing. some of the [data embargo] seems to be clearing up and regardless my pms is leaving and my emotions are more like i like them. existing and present but not a rollercoaster of overwhelm.

fuckin rockin vagabondage performance fucking rockin accordion jam after there's a lot more under the surface but i am gonna bask in this while it's still fresh for the basking. tomorrow we record songs.
Vagabondage played at L-Boogie, a benefit for an AMAZING person / an awesome poet, and we rocked the socks off that place. It was one of those crazy moments where you know how those artists WE love feel and we were on that side of the looking glass. An eruption of cheers filled the room when John pulled out his kazoo. Neither of us could even hear him play it.

today was a wacky wacky day. starting with tasty eggs and coffee without soymilk - it quickly turned into a drive down the coast with john (and rooster) to go record some Vagabondage songs. personally I was still kinda show high from last night at QOM and the subsequent previously mentioned accordion jam. so i coulda used more coffee for sure and my arm was a bit raring to go.
