This is Murray (on the left that is) he is a 25yr old -YES 25 YEARS- old bobcat that arrived last week at the wildcat sanctuary in MN. He came from a zoo where he basically lived his whole life on a concert slab. He has fluid on most of his joints which are of course swollen and sore, he is slowly going blind and deaf; but this studly man still struts around the best he can. He is now housed in a temporary enclosure at the wildcat sanctuary where I volunteer.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching Murray walk FOR THE FIRST TIME on grass! he loved it I bit wobbly, but hey, so am I from time to time. I also had the pleasure of being able to take the photos of his first experience which of course I loved.
Murray has neighbours… they couldn’t be more opposite to him lol. They are 2 bob cat kittens Hailey and Henry! Hailey and Henry are so lively and vocal, they thunder around in their temporary enclosure (they are also new comers to the sanctuary) and are the cutest wee things you have seen. Another first for Murray yesterday was to meet Hailey and Henry through the fence.. This is when the above photo was taken. Although he couldn’t see/hear them very well he could smell them and went straight to the fence line. The kittens tried to play with him, they found him fascinating. Hailey was showing submissive behaviour as she wasn’t sure what to make of Murray and kept batting at him, then rolling over on her back lol like she was saying ‘Play with me now!’ then “ops no - not a good idea - I’m not the alpha and havent been invited’ lol again sooo cute.
Just wanted to share ...its the little things that make the difference for these guys -and I guess in life in general.
