From Wikipedia ~
<<There are many stories about Barrett's bizarre and intermittently psychotic behaviour — some are known to be true. According to Roger Waters, Barrett came into what was to be their last practice session with a new song he had dubbed "Have You Got It, Yet?". The song seemed simple enough when he first presented it to his bandmates, but it soon became impossibly difficult to learn and they eventually realised that while they were practising it, Barrett kept changing the arrangement. He would then play it again, with the arbitrary changes, and sing "Have you got it yet?". Eventually they realised they never would and that they were simply bearing the brunt of Barrett's idiosyncratic sense of humour.>>

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

This is one of my favorite photos ever, due in large part to circumstances that led to it's creation.
(Rubbing my chin) I remember it like it was yesterday~~~~
I had just met Adam (manic strummer in bluegrass band Oakhurst) a couple nights prior, then only ran into him periodically around the cruise ship. (This was on Xingolati -- The best party ever (and the worst party ever, but that is a story for another time.))
Anyway, it's now Sunday night and I just saw a lackluster Hamsa Lila performance. I turn around, and I'm looking face to face at a guy in a Mexican wrestling mask. Although I barely knew Adam, I knew it was him. He was not talking (turns out he'd lost his voice). He was solo, so he joined Leah and I on a trip back to the room for some apple-pipe hits. We decided to spruce up his costume a bit, hence the tiger ears, etc. Through fits of crippling laughter, we then created the sign and rigged it to hang around his neck.
Oh yeah, and just to make things more interesting, I also had lost my voice by this point. We were communicating via mime.
May as well go on, even though I've told the story of the photo~~~~
Leah was done, so Adam and I went for a cruise around the ship, which was by now docked in Long Beach under a giant yellow moon, to see who was still up at 4:00 am on the last day. Adam was still in costume. Not too many folks about, but we found Marci with a bottle of red she was trying to open, and DJ LA Jesus was out and about as well.
Then we found the shuffleboard stuff and decided to have a game. To make it more interesting, we expanded the playing field to include the entire foredeck, probably 50 yards x 50 yards. Much like bocce ball, we'd first send out a target disc, then, at the sound of the whistle, would take turns trying to get closest to it. Then, at the sound of the whistle, we'd go measure to see who won. We eventually called it a draw, and I executed my first chain-smoke just to say I've done it.
