baking soda applied to pits that are slightly damp (not wet). if the baking soda is too gritty by itself, you can mix it with cornstarch for a softer feel. lavender and patchouli essential oils are also antibacterial.

We packed an insane amount of entertainment into an hour and a half, and it all went off without a hitch thanks to the consummate professionals who performed, and thanks to Mistress B who emceed and kept things moving. I already shop at Lush, where they are dedicated to reducing packaging, so the bathroom is relatively plastic free. In the kitchen, I have partially solved the plastic grocery bag problem by 1) using them as trash bags, 2) cutting them up to make plastic yarn and then crocheting totes out of them, as in the above ... read more 
It knocked me for a loop. Usually I consider Daylight Savings Time a holiday; I'm so frickin excited that the light is back.
