Good Birth Keeper Doula Training" is a professional level program that upon completion participants are Certified Doulas.
The Natural Birth Institute now has scholarships available for those who truly can not afford the $350 fee. If you have no way to pay the full fee, meaning no resources what so ever, please inquire. Our hope is that participants who are VERY low resourced at this time will now be able to fulfill their dream of becoming a doula....

Be part of this global movement to transform birth for every mother & Baby
BOLD in SF is excited to announce a playshop/casting call for "Birth", a play by Karen Brody boldaction.org
This special playshop goes beyond the standard casting call for theater,
and is open to all poets, actors, dancers, writers, comedians, story-tellers, hip-shakers, midwives, doulas, birth educators, activists, mothers, grandmothers, and birth divas - no previous theater experience necessary! Ladies, don't miss this opportunity to share your experience with and passion for birth, babies and women's rights in a creative and artistic way. There are 6 women's roles available and 1 understudy with guaranteed performances.
WHEN: Saturday June 14th, 12 - 3pm (1-hr groups). Callbacks will be Mon 6/16 & Tues 6/17.
WHERE: Inner Mission Chiropractic - 3331 17th St. between Mission and Valencia, SF 94110 (1 block from 16th St, BART station).
WHAT: We will dance, moan, grunt, read, dialogue, share, sing, act, chant, laugh and whatever else comes to us in the moment.
REQUESTED: bring an open mind and heart, an earnest attempt to step out of your comfort zones, a sense of humor and voice/body confidence. Wear loose clothing.
REQUIRED: Availability for most rehearsals and all performances. Also, please bring a detailed schedule of your availability from June 20 - Sept 30.
PROVIDED: Delicious refreshment, inspiration, instruction & all needed play materials.

BOLD in SF has been given the opportunity to present "Birth" as the headlining event at Mothers Naturally's First Annual Birthfest at the beautiful and historic Brava Theater Center in SF's vibrant Mission District on August 31st, the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend! This all-day, full-scale event will include a film festival of mother-friendly films, vendors, speakers, classes, food, music, and will culminate with an evening performance of "Birth" folllowed by a panel/talkback.

We are inviting you to join in our mission. If you feel passionate about birth politics, women's rights, or just want to learn more about birth and all your options in a creative and safe environment - contact us now! Though our project launches on Labor Day (August 31st), we are gathering our volunteer corps NOW: designers, press coordinators, graphic artists, sponsorship coordinators, grant writers, photographers/videographers, and birth cheerleaders.
THE BOLD MOVEMENT
Arts Meets Activism Worldwide
BIRTH, a play by Karen Brody, is the center focus of the BOLD (Birth on Labor Day) movement. BOLD is an international theatrical event, childbirth think tank, and community action network all rolled up in one.

In addition to the Brava performance on August 31st, the play will also be performed at the Teenage Pregnancy and Parenting Project (TAPP) as a free performance for teenaged mothers, and at several local colleges and universities. Actors must be available for all performances (no more than 5 total). A read-through will be held in late June, rehearsals will begin in mid-July, and there will be one 5-8 hour tech day in late August (exact dates to be decided based on cast/crew schedules).
