During a recent conversation at Dickens this year, a few of us found ourselves discussing Casa. We bemoaned the lack of substantial Elizabethan/Shakespearean theatre there, how what is presented as theatre there has been "dumbed-down or translated into modern speech or been made a parody. If one's goal is entertainment, are such measures truly necessary? Elizabethan theatre was everything entertainment ought to be, from comedy to tragedy to philosophy and romance.
