about me
I am into rock climbing, kindness, sincerity, my crazy bay area family, meeting new and exciting people, cheese (double gloucester), hugs, abnormal hair (length, color, style), books, oatmeal stout, geekiness, quirkyness, and, currently, sleeping way too late. I am not into being defined by this "about me" section and so it will probably continue to be a work in progress (but so am I); also not into Dan Brown, fish, the ability to spell (although I can get anal, and not in a sexy way, about capitalization and punctuation), and gravity. I'm getting to know California and I am delighted and amazed by all the wonderful, odd people out there...and the fact that I currently live in a place with tofu tamales, wiener dog races, and really nice postal workers.

Irrelevant, Irreverent, and Rambling

So La Pastorela is one of the movies I will be showing at my Santacon Decompression / Feliz Navidad party, and instead of taking up lots of space in the invite, I thought I'd introduce you to the movie here.

La Pastorela is based on the Mexican tradition of La Posada (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Posadas), basically a Christmas pageant. So yes there is some happy-Jesusness in the movie. And because it's a Christmas movie, there's also some world peace why can't we all just get along ... read more

Hi all!

I'm looking to borrow a TV, just for Thursday. I'd like to show my chilluns some movies, and I've got everything I need except for an easily transportable TV (20" or less)...do you have one? I could come by tonight and pick it up, and bring it back to you tomorrow. I would be much obliged, and such obligation might lead me to bring you donuts. Or beer.

Thanks!

(Thursday is our last day. The MADNESS will be over then, but I will be sad to see the kids go.)

...I got to teach the chilluns what "bollocks" means.

... It was way better than teaching them what the first conditional is.

I wake up. I grade. I teach. I eat. I teach. I grade. I go home. If I'm not too tired, I eat again. I sleep. Repeat.

Email from old college boyfriend:

Hey Anemone,

So I feel a little awkward asking this… but you may know my sister is getting married next month. Well, I want to give her the same daisy bracelet that I gave you. However, I’ve been unable to find another. So if you still have yours and would be willing to part with it, I will buy it from you.

Thanks,
Old College Boyfriend

Well, I sure hope he feels awkward. It's kinda a douchey thing to do, and he is not a douche at all. In fac... read more

Turns out I AM allergic to poison oak. In the pic are two of several reasons why I told my students not to take it personally if I snap at them this week. Any by reasons I mean festering pustules. The picture really doesn't do them justice, as they've finally dried out for the day.

"Pustules" is an awesome word.

I leave the house at 6:45. I get home at 6:45. I grade. I eat dinner. I go to sleep. Repeat.
