Some of you know that we are in the middle of a crisis with little David. He has been sick since last Monday. Pam called the dr. and told him his symptons and the Dr. said he just had the flue and that they were doing all they could for him. By Wednesday evening Pam had him dressed and ready to take t the hospitol but called the Dr. One more time. He told them that they were going to have to wait things out, Yesterday after jason happened to talk to an online friend who happens to be a pediatrician they called the ambulance and took David to Barns Childrens Hospitol in St Louis because the ped. said he certinely wouldn't rule ut appendicitis. Turns out the poor little guy had his appndicts rupture 4 days ago. The infuriating thing is that their Dr, didn't want them to bring him in to even look at him. He suffered for days!!!

Last night he had surgery and the kids were told that he had a lot of JUNK in him.. junk I am presuming is infection. They cleaned it out and he is on antibiotics, they have been told that he will be in the hospital for 7 to 10 days and they may have to go and do another sergury to clean him out again.

This morning talking to Pam David is quite cranky today. That is good. He wants to eat and drink but they wont let him yet. Pam who is due to dilever her 4th baby the 24th of this month didn't get much rest last night. David was in ICU and they let her sleep in the bed with him. She said that was the only sleep she got last night till he told her that he wanted her to get out of the bed, About 4:00 this morning he pulled the tube out of his nose. His white blood count is now going up thank goodness.

Tomorrow Jason is taking me and the other 2 kids to the hospital to see David and Pamela,

I would be writing a letter to that doctor and letting him know that based on HIS recommendation, their child has had to have surgery, is very ill, and HE WILL BE PAYING ALL OF THE RESULTING MEDICAL BILLS! Or else his malpractice insurance is about to go up. I would also let him know that they will be telling EVERYONE about him and what kind of "care" they can expect to recieve and to take their children elsewhere. If that doesn't get his attention and cooperation, sue his pants off. Just my two cents.

Thanks all. Its a ruff one. Little guy is only 4 and I understand that it is very unusual for one so young to have appendicitis. He is usually one very active arnery(sp) little boy. Hard to see him so latheric! Yes the kids are very worried about dr. bills and hospital bills they have ins and after thr 1000. deduct. i believe the ins. pays 90% I know alot of times the hospitals will settle for that. As long as David s getting better my next concern is Pam I hope she holds off till after we get David home before she has this baby!

What good news it is that David has become ornery, that takes some energy. I'm glad you'll get to see him tomorrow Patty.

Turns out that we wont be going tmorrow because Abigail has a cold so we cannot take the chance of David getting a cold on top of what he is dealing with

I'm so sorry, Patty.
David will be good as new in no time. Kids heal so fast!
My heart really goes out to the grown-ups!
God bless you all.

Yes, ornery is much better than lethargic! I've been reading about this all day and my thoughts have been with you and yours. It's stressful, but everything will be okay. He looks like a little angel in this picture.

breathe - count your blessings, be glad that it went no further. Let go of the anger - it does no good now, and probably won't get you far later. Hug him, kiss him, and each other too. My mom says resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Thank goodness they spoke to someone besides the original doctor, and got the right information. I'm glad to hear he is now recovering. I'll keep him, and your family, in my prayers.

Terrible .... that he has a doctor that doesn't want to see him ... even to check him to see if it was something more than the flu. Someone else said it's rare for a child that young to have appendicitis (I got it at 18 or so), but still ... he did have it and things could've turned out a lot worse than they did.

I'm just glad the little guy has family around who cares enough about him to get him the help he needs. Some people would've gone with what the doctor said and not worried about it ... until the little guy was gone. They'd sue and perhaps win, but the little guy wouldn't be coming back. Wishing only the best for everyone involved .... or even not involved. :)

somebody was watching over him. four days with a ruptured appendix is normally a lifetime.

our concern right now is for David, I do know that the pedietric Dr. That told the kids that he was probably having an appendicetes attach wants Jason to presue leagal actons and even sad that he will fly out here. But right now that isn't our main concert,

Everyone makes mistakes once in a while and doctors are no exception. If everyone sued when a doctor made a mistake or missed something, we'd have no doctors left. The question will be whether or not the doctor should have known better, or did and was just too lazy to do anything. It should definitely go on his record and if a pattern of such mistakes shows he's incompetent, he should be censured. If he knew David had appendicitis, or even if all the symptoms showed it and he was just too lazy to look further, then, he should be sued.

I don't know if it was lazy or if he didn't want them to bring him in because he thought it was the flue and didn't want to be exposed. He didn't want the kids to bring him to even look at him. I feel that if he did and he pushed on the little guys tummy he would have sent him to the hospital days ago. I am not one to sue but this isn't my decisin. Jason is going to go to the Dr. office tomorrow and get all the kids records because they are not going back to him again

That last decision was kind of a given. I am glad he is still with you, and that he is recovering. How is he doing?

I stopped by the hospital today on the way home. He is pretty cranky but doing OK He still isn't allowed any food or water. They are going to put a PICC in ane when he does get to go home they will be giving him medication thru thePICC. There is a good chance that they will have to go in and remove more "junk" from his insides we are hoping that theywill be able to go in and remove it with a syringe rather then opening him up again. One day at a time right now!
