a healthy life

I just started re-reading "8 weeks to optimum health" by Dr. Andrew Weil. I've made a serious decision to go through with the program. Right now I am on week 2. What that means is that I am taking vitamin C every day as well as flax seed oil. I am only eating whole grains and vegatables/fruits, and I have given up dairy products. And after being a strict vegetarian for over 10 years, Dr. Weil has convinced me to start eating fish! Soooo, I have eaten fish once a week since starting this program. Fish really isn't so bad! I'm convinced it's necessary to be totally healthy, which is why I have decided to break my vows as a vegetarian. It's weird saying "pescatarian" since that's what I am now. I felt a little sad the first time I had to say it. But it feels kinda nice to be making a change in the name of health, not politics.

So, the other things I have to do is walk every day (which isn't hard since I have a dog), and do breathing excercises everyday. The breathing excercises are just like meditation, so it is really nice.

So far I feel lighter and healthier. I feel a bit more confident too. Maybe that is b/c of the lightness I feel in my body. I'm trying to also include natural ways when it comes to the outside of my body. Here is a recipe that I have been using to wash my face at night:

1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp honey
mix together and spread all over face. rinse. done.

Voila. Love the healthy life.

sound like you are doing great!! i to started eating fish after being a veggie/vegan for 15 years! (wow, that was about 6 years ago now) because my mom has MS and i really do think it is good for you. i also take essential fatty acid sups but i just dont think that the fish is supplementable (?)

keep up the good work!!!

yes, i have a read a lot of literature that says fish can't be supplemented. even the fish oils in gel cap form could be toxic (according to health god Dr. Weil ;). Even flax doesn't have the same amount of omegas that fish has, I believe. This is so fascinating to me, b/c I thought that flax was good enough. I've read some books that say that flax just isn't the #1 solution.

anyway--if you can do it after 15 years, then I think I can do it too. :)

Can it be any kind of fish, or the salmon/oily kind? I'm not fond of salmon, but I love orange roughie, halibut, etc. I definitely do not eat enough fish.

Congrats on your newer healthy lifestyle!

he advises oily fish from cold waters like salmon, tuna, herring, and mackerel. i don't know much about fish, so I'm not sure about the fish you mentioned. I would like to know more though.
