that whole "what do i do with my life" rut

Don't get me wrong, i love teaching, and I enjoy working on my massage clients, but I'm feeling ansy, like I need another direction. I love health and I want to do something in health care. There are many factors to consider: how much schooling is involved, distance or campus learning, job security, and income. I've considered 3 possibilities: nutrition, herbalist, or nursing. I'm not sure which to go for. I love nutrition and herbs, but nursing is health care too, and oh so practical. I'm mean, what other profession let's you work all over the world? I wish massage therapy could just be the end to this desire to work in the healing professions, but the sad truth is that, unless you work for yourself, the pay is so crappy. $15 and hour to make your own muscles sore should be a crime. Hopefully I'll either figure it out or learn to just be content with my life the way it is.

Do what you love!
If nutrition and herbs is what you love, then pursue that. It'll be easier to learn and easier to spread the knowledge when it's something YOU are passionate about!

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, thinking that my job doesn't "fill me up," and I'm thinking of other career possibilities. Unlike you, my job pays really well, so it's hard to leave it.

Don't try and be satisfied with the way things are. You will only start to feel bitter and resentful. That's not who you are. :)

That's really good advice, Chris. It is hard to leave when the job pays really well. I'm not rich, but I make pretty good money for a teacher, and I have the luxury of extra time (private students). Maybe I'm just bored. Is that similar to your feelings? I've been teaching for about 5 years now. I think I'm getting close to the expiration date. I may last another year or 2, but I think it's coming. I just want to be prepared.

dont forget.....
you are detoxing form the 8 weeks diet! i always get emotional when i am detoxing and it seems like i have to make some MAJOR decision and i am not happy with my life right now. take a deep breath........

just a reminder! :)

and if that doesnt work.... i went to a psycic advisor/career counseler (yes in one!) when i was deciding between nutrition and teaching and it made all the difference...

Jessica- Your comment is like a breath of fresh air! Of course!! That makes so much sense and I had not even thought to make the connection betwen my diet changes and my mood. You are going to be a very good nutritionist.
