Welcome to The Spook Show...
the Big BellyDance Show
Sat, December 8, 2007 - 1:31 PMTribal is where my heart is, so...
--and here is where I have to stop and scream to the heavens "Why didn't someone tell me about this KAMI LIDDLE person?!?" Holy. crap.--
I had the huge fortune of sitting in the very first row, dead center, the stage about a foot and a half from my toes. I found myself watching everyone's feet a lot. I guess to see if they were doing anything magical. LOL I can't understand, because I am a shiny noob, how some of them move their entire bodies into certain positions so well, because I've yet to learn how to really move at all from one spot to another without losing form.
I am absolutely sure I held my breath when The Indigo girlies took the stage. And anytime Mardi looked down at us, and when Zoe winked, and when Rachel smiled. I think this is because, along with Lucy, Ariellah, and Donna Mejia, to name a few, these ladies were an integral part of the hammer, that drove the Love of Bellydance nail, home into my little ol' heart. (Wait, what the hell did I just say? I don't know...) It's such an extraordinary feeling, that you'd think it would be something unattainable, but here are the people who help bring the joy, right in front of you. And I'm a very visual, visceral, person, so seeing them in non-video/YouTube format, made them real. It was my first show, and as a beginner and someone who has not participated in this stuff before, it was such a great honor and pleasure, I can't even say much.
And then there was Miss Kami. I'd heard her name in the dance circles and even added her group here on Tribe and read a little about her, but seeing is understanding. Kami's performances during the show made my jaw-drop. I love discovering new things and new people, and I'm happy to add Kami Liddle to the list of dancers who make me feel the love.
The reason I say that is because there are some dancers I see that I don't feel much coming from. It's almost like they are just going through the motions, which saddens me.
Other dancers who brought the joy: my gosh Hannah Nour was great! I'd never heard of her before either but she stood out among the Trad. style dancers, even though she was in the back of the group most of the time. Or at least it seemed that way to me. Who put Hannah Nour in the back! Stop that! :D
Also, Sabah, was having a great time onstage and just really shone, to me. I swear if that girl stopped grinning once, I didn't see it. Her enthusiasm made me really happy. And Sonia and Jillina, they filled their dance with so much energy and spirit, no matter what style you prefer, I dared anyone not to love them.
Amazing, ladies! Thanks to all of you for such a great show.

Okay. Perhaps you should hop online and purchase the new BDSS Dvd: "Tribal Fusions." You can see some nice Kami Little performances on there.

Girl, you know they yanked that video! LOL The whole production quality thing. Has it been reissued by now, cause that's what I've been waiting on. :)
Thanks, Julie! |
