Beardsley is the artist I consider the first queer artist, beating Warhol by 50 years at playing so humorously and in-your-face with our love of queer sex; he is so appropriate to have been Oscar Wilde's illustrator, since Oscar dared and risked all to be blatantly queer in late 19th century Britain, and lost.
