Buti is an Akha Hiltribe woman who lives in Northen Thailand with her family. She is a multi-talented woman who, being the daughter of a Shaman, is an expert on medicinal herbs and plants from the jungle near her village and often serves as a consultant to westerners studying the benefits of medicinal plants found in the area.

With her American husband, she works on a successful experimental farming project which uses traditional farming techniques as well as new, highly progressive ones.

This project benefits her community by bringing work to the townspeople besides expanding the local economy. It offers great promise for the future.

In her spare time, Buti makes some of the most beautiful tribal/gypsy belts we have ever seen. She uses basic tribal belly dance belts and decorates them with the traditional embelishments that have been used by Hilltribe women for centuries!

You may purchase this costume from Buti at her website. This is one way for tribal dancers to benefit those whose culture inspire their art and get a beautiful, authentic work of art in return.

Buti and her husband, Willow, need our help to expand the farming project they have been working on for the past 4 years which will greatly benefit their village. You can read about it in their website.
