Voices from the forest

Afraid? You should be. This barbarian scholar will outfight, outwit, and out-dance you... and when she's done, her beloved arthropods will take care of what's left.

Echoes of my latest hoots

Back to the Bumper Sticker Thread... (in The Foul, Drunk & Hostile Bellydancer) I found a new one!

ConQuest attracts gamers from all over Europe... one group arrived in a truck with British license plates. It had big high-traction tyres and a heavy duty mount for a snow plough (or some other heavy equipment) in front.

Re: Another Fucktarded Fuckwad (in The Foul, Drunk & Hostile Bellydancer) I´d advise to let Cuindless have a go on the text for logic.

Today´s thought

You can work it out by fractions or by simple Rule of Three,
But the way of Tweedle-dum is not the way of Tweedle-dee.
You can twist it, you can turn it, you can plait it till you drop,
But the way of Tiddly-Winky´s not the way of Winky-Pop!

Hooting about my life

I had my coming-out this weekend, which is saying I took my book out to be viewed by the public.

I was stunned by all the positive resonance. Yay! You´ll have to excuse me for being a bit self-indulgent because I´m feeling extremely proud at this moment. All the picture-taking and layouting and sifting through facts and fiction hasn´t been in vain.

Tribal Signs is a comprehensive work on the different phyles of American Tribal Style, describing history, sample movements, costume style ... read more

Inch by inch, my body is being covered. Sometimes ticklish, sometimes painful, the centipede grows. Already its upper half can dance with me and snake around when I do chest lifts and hip work. It snuggles up into my armpit lovingly. It also keeps me pretty busy indulging its addiction to cocoa butter.

Centipedes are misunderstood, gentle creatures who always keep their habitat clean. For those who are not familiar with my Bug Report: just assume I know what I´m talking about.

I´m no longer a tattoo virgin.

Being a control freak, I´ve planned out my body art meticulously. Before starting on the central piece (which is to be a long tribal centipede from my ankle to my breast that is supposed to snake around following my dance movements), I decided to have a smaller tattoo made to see if my body could cope with ink. Just to prove I was a big girl and could take the pain, I chose the tender ankle area. Talk about being brave and dumb. Yes.

You may notice that t... read more

The other night, we performed at a bellydance show in Herten, and I met so many of the girls there who I started dancing with, or who strongly influenced my dancing back then, even some of my old teachers. How time flies! And I was stunned how different our styles had become. Diversity in dancing is a wonderful thing.

One wonders how it will be in a few years, and in which directions we will have developed then?

I´m getting prejudiced about Ohio.

At long last the tribe.net people fixed something and I could change my address to a more accurate "Germany" instead of "Ohio". (Tribe.net cheerfully defaulted to "Ohio" and kept me there no matter how much I tried to change it.)

During my short virtual stay in "Ohio", I got these twenty-odd invitations to outlandish (and downright strange) tribes and goofy personal networks from Ohians who knew dick about me but that I lived in Ohio and was a grrrl. A... read more

This is the working title for an ambitious project of mine: a comprehensive book about the diversity of Tribal Style styles (so to speak) in Germany. Complete with history, cues lists, interviews, style and flavour analysis, and a short study of the social dynamics within a tribe. It is going to be one of the first ever Tribal Style publications in German language, which means this is groundbreaking work. But I was never one for the easy way...

This is going to need the help of many to get... read more
