... well, sort of. The publisher and I are through processing, and the book hits the printing presses. It should hit the shelves next month at the latest. Yay! I´m excited like a five-year-old before Christmas. I can´t sit still. (Picture an owl bouncing excitedly around the house, madly fluttering and shedding feathers).

My latest thanks goes to the incredible, the wonderful Julia Zay for her foreword. But I can´t really express the gratitude that I feel to all my helpers, models, provide... read more

I was stunned by all the positive resonance. Yay! You´ll have to excuse me for being a bit self-indulgent because I´m feeling extremely proud at this moment. All the picture-taking and layouting and sifting through facts and fiction hasn´t been in vain. Tribal Signs is a comprehensive work on the different phyles of American Tribal Style, describing history, sample movements, costume style ... read more
Inch by inch, my body is being covered. Sometimes ticklish, sometimes painful, the centipede grows. Already its upper half can dance with me and snake around when I do chest lifts and hip work. It snuggles up into my armpit lovingly. It also keeps me pretty busy indulging its addiction to cocoa butter.

Centipedes are misunderstood, gentle creatures who always keep their habitat clean. For those who are not familiar with my Bug Report: just assume I know what I´m talking about.

Being a control freak, I´ve planned out my body art meticulously. Before starting on the central piece (which is to be a long tribal centipede from my ankle to my breast that is supposed to snake around following my dance movements), I decided to have a smaller tattoo made to see if my body could cope with ink. Just to prove I was a big girl and could take the pain, I chose the tender ankle area. Talk about being brave and dumb. Yes. You may notice that t... read more
The other night, we performed at a bellydance show in Herten, and I met so many of the girls there who I started dancing with, or who strongly influenced my dancing back then, even some of my old teachers. How time flies! And I was stunned how different our styles had become. Diversity in dancing is a wonderful thing.

One wonders how it will be in a few years, and in which directions we will have developed then?
I´m getting prejudiced about Ohio.

At long last the tribe.net people fixed something and I could change my address to a more accurate "Germany" instead of "Ohio". (Tribe.net cheerfully defaulted to "Ohio" and kept me there no matter how much I tried to change it.) During my short virtual stay in "Ohio", I got these twenty-odd invitations to outlandish (and downright strange) tribes and goofy personal networks from Ohians who knew dick about me but that I lived in Ohio and was a grrrl. A... read more
