Reality is Highly Overrated

about me
I began my spiritual journey back in 1963. I got out of High School, and after a brief detour in the Navy, (30 days,) I moved to San Francisco, and into another reality. It was called Haight/Ashbury. A friend of my brothers was a Beatnik Poet from Boston who loved Jack Kerouac, Alan Watts, Swami Muktananda, and Zen Buddhism. I grew my hair long, wore beads, and in the next few years, I was introduced to Yoga, Red Mountain Burgundy ($1.29 per gallon,) SEX, and some of natures finer herbs.
After many years of spiritual wandering, I think that I have found my spiritual path. It's primarily Taoism and I Ching, with a strong connection to Yoga, and Yogananda.
I believe that the world is real, at least real enough. Physics has it's place, and if you stub your toe, it's going to hurt. But I believe that the world, this reality, is a lot more flexible and malleable then it appears on the surface. I believe that this reality is part of a much larger realm, and our actions here have consequences both in this world, and in the larger. I believe we come into this world to go to school, and a very tough school indeed. Just by virtue of choosing to be born a human, we deserve great praise and support. We are all given lessons, which will help each of us, to grow into who we are supposed to be. As we move through this world, making choices, our guides and masters watch us very carefully, keeping us on our path, and moving us along through our lesson plans. Our connection, lies in the knowledge that besides our individual plans, the universe has a plan for all of mankind, to move it towards maturity, and a greater destiny. So sometimes when we are guided to act, it is for our own path. And sometimes, we are guided to aid others, so that mankind can grow, can heal, and prosper.
Being human can be tough, but when we are following our Tao, our path, there is magic everywhere. Life becomes a dance; each second is filled with love and beauty, and each second lasts forever.
The Universe led me here, and I'm starting to feel at home. Perhaps, for a time, our paths can join, and we can walk together, hand in hand. Good Journeys, Wayfarer1
My little girl has gone. She'd lived some 20, (hopefully happy) years, but like all of God's creations, her time had come. For the last month, her walking had gotten slower, more tentative. She had a yowling loud appetite, but two days ago, things had changed. She all but completely stopped eating, and taking water, and she napped much more then usual. (For an old cat, that's quite an accomplishment.) Then yesterday, she rapidly went down hill. She seemed unable to walk, rather stagg...

Kurt Vonnegut Died Today. He was 84. My heart aches for his loss to the world. His writing was like looking at the universe through a cracked mirror, reflecting back to us many of the follies and foibles that steered the path of much of mankind.
Back in the mid '70s, I came down with a serious affliction from which most of my family suffers. I became addicted to Science Fiction. I haunted book s...

I was heading out on a trip, when I realized that I missed the bus that was to take me to my car. I decided to go to Joanie’s or Roy’s house. On the way, I stumbled upon my car. It was weirdly foreign, and I had forgotten that I even owned one.
I followed Roy to his new house. It was a strangely weird drive through twisting and convoluted canyons. We came to a deep valley which opened out on to this large area, seeming to extend to the horizon. It was hard to see, though, because ...

She ponders the spiritual bringers,
And gold rings adorn Rita's fingers.
She loves all of life
It's grace and it's strife.
In forest and nightclub, she lingers.
