The Air Guitar Regionals at The Independent June 28th 2007

This had to be one of the funnest things I've ever participated in, so far in my life. Although I didn't make it to the second round..I felt like a "light" rock star for 60 seconds. I think the best part of this whole experience was making an ass out of myself in front of over 600 people who payed to watch us make asses of ourselves. My problem was..I didn't make enough of an ass of myself...and my guitar solo sort of stayed dry throughout the routine. I missed a cue in the song..where the drum roll was a signal for me to start breakdancing. I remember it was so loud on stage that I couldn't hear detail in my song..therefore I screwed up on one part. The guitar was falling from the sky as I spun around in this gyrating motion...and magically, it started playing before I even caught the heavy Chinese made copy of a Stratacastor. Somehow I pulled it off being slightly behind in my timing, but nobody noticed. The best part of the whole experience was hanging out backstage with all the media..KTVU news and the Air Guitar Documentary film crew. We had photographers shooting us constantly as we drank buckets full of Coors. That was real rock star treatment. I remember moments before they called me up...and I could hear the crowd roar at the previous contestant. It was loud..like those stadium concerts that we've all been to. That's one thing I love about being alive..is making an ass of myself and people laughing at it. I can't wait till next year. Special thanks to Heidi, Rob, Heather, RebRae, Cathy, Mo, Carter and John Baker my sound tech guy..for supporting me in the air crowd. You really should do this next year. They serve Coors back in the V.I.P. room baby!
