Life

This season has been flyin' by! I can't believe the winter is already over, well....mostly, technically...We still have a decent amount of snow, but it is steadily melting, despite the random bursts of fresh snow we are still getting here and there. I am most excited about the birds coming back, the birds are back! WOOT! I have been so happy to see the juncos and robins and stellar's jays, a sure sign of spring! I can't wait to start going out on patrols more often, as folks have been reporti... read more

What has happened to the glorious summer?? Ah it is always inevitable that it will end. I'm always a little sad when the weather starts turning cold, but I love the four seasons and am happy to watch the world change each and every year. My summer was absolutely wonderful! Montana was grand and glorious and I am so very happy I decided to leave Columbia behind to go explore the wilds of the big sky country. I have never spent a summer in a more beautiful place! I made some wonderful friends a... read more

Wisdom

"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better...To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
-Gandhi

"The time is right to mix sentences
with dirt and the sun
with punctuation and the rain with
verbs, and for worms to pass
through question marks, and the
stars to shine down on budding
nouns, and the dew to form on
paragraphs."
-Richard Brautigan, Please Plant This Book

"To be of the Earth is to know
the restlessness of being a seed
the darkness of being planted
the struggle toward the light
the pain of growth into the light
the joy of bursting and bearing fruit
the love of being food for someone
the scattering of your seeds
the decay of the seasons
the mystery of death
and the miracle of birth."
-John Soos

"But for the sake of some little mouthful of flesh, we deprive a soul of the sun and light, and of that proportion of life and time they had been born to enjoy."
-Plutarch, Moralia

"When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as the warriors of the Rainbow"
-Old Native American Prophecy

"Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."
-Goethe

"The difference between loneliness and solitude is your perception of
who you are alone with and who made the choice."
