A Candle....

It somehow seems a little smaller today, a little colder. Our number were reduced by two yesterday, within a couple of hours of each other. Little Playa, a very young kitten passed away while being cuddled by Puss-in-Boots, and less than two hours later we took our cat Bandit in to the vet to be euthanized. Bandit was 17, and had suffered a stroke or other brain injury just before Recompression, and she was no longer herself. We buried them together in the cat garden where Bandit spent much of her time in the sun, carrying candles to light the way and light our little ceremony. Just before we left, Rick, our youngest, stopped and placed his candle over the grave. In spite of the wind, that candle did not go out, a candle flame in the middle of comeplete darkness, a beacon for spirit and joy. When we checked this morning, the candle had burned right to the very end of the wick, deep in the dirt. Rick's comment was that it burned just like Bandits life had been, bright to the very end....

I was reading on a friend's (Squish??) blog or posting somewhere that there was originally plans to have a potluck this spring, and it was postphoned due to the size of the apartment (Stripey's?) and possible inclement weather... We're more than happy to have it here at our place, and we have the space ad amenities, we're close to the skytrain, yada yada yada... If people are into it, let me know,,, and if whoever had the original discussion could pipe up cause I went nuts trying to find it again... ;) nuff about that... I'm back at work, working on "The Enemy Within", but only part time, so I can keep doing recompression stuff and work on other side projects... I'm looking for ladies with an exhibitionist streak for a project... I need breast models! seriously, I do, for a video project... no faces will be shown in the video, but a photo shoot will be available for those wishing any portfolio work etc... umm, the shop is up and running so we can start building stuff as soon as I get the plans done.... I should be starting on either "Flash Gordon" or "The Master's of Horror" by the end of the month... Advance Notice! Evil Empire/Disaster Area Fundraiser!!! Easter Carnival and Slave Auction! April 21st! come gamble like its not real money (cause it aint) and try to parlay your winnings into a slave or toy or both! (we don't wanna know about the details... wait a minute, yes we do!) stay tuned for the whole scoop!

Yeehaw! its all done for now... I received a phone call from BC Place on Sunday just to say that that they were extremely happy with the roof repairs... a couple of very small leaks were all that remained of 400+ holes in the roof! so now its back to living! (with a full wallet, I might add!) For everyone thats been trying to get a hold of me since the beginning of January, now is the right time! We'll be at Blue's party, right after Sin City <eg>. I am working now on Burning Man 2007, LOTS of propane projects, and the possibility of running a series of workshops... if that looks interesting, drop me a line and we can chat! See ya Sat!

Hey, I'm almost done this &*%$# job... after 22 days straight, my time on the roof of BC Place is coming to an end Friday... ok, not really, but my 7 days a week, 12 hours a day time is done... I'm just sitting here trying to decide if I'm bummed because nobody remembered my birthday other than my family... and then I remembered that I hadn't mentioned it to most of them and then it was ok! Today is my second 19th birthday, and I'm feeling fine! in fact, I'm feeling like a 19 year old! (know any?<evil grin>) Actually, I'm feeling great... had a good holiday, got a huge poker set for my birthday so now we'll just HAVE to host some poker nights at our place... strip poker anyone? ;) I also picked up my new camera before Christmas, and we've already taken over 500 pictures... I will be looking for some models soon, seriously! Now we're workin and thinkin about my birthday party on the 29th, everyone's invited! and New Years! Any house/after parties happening around town? See, I told you I was 19 again... <grin>

ahh well, its a paycheque I suppose... just having a hrd time working all nights and then having one day off at a time... I have to stay up all night on my day off just to stay in the rythm, such as it is... and having just enough time off to sleep means I miss everyone! I haven't seen or done anything since I started working on AVP the day after halloween.... ok, thats not quite true, I was gifted a trailer and Golf cart for Burning Man... yahoo! both need a lot of work, but thats totally fine since they'll be reduced down to the frame anyway... oh, and I was also gifted a leather organiser too, so now I can try and be social while I'm at work...<eg> ok, who's available for the 3 am phone call? See everyone soon! let the parties commence!!!!!!!

well, I'm back at work full time on Alien vs Predator II, which is good... the fact that the entire show is shot at night, in the rain, isn't so much so... but work is work, and we're playing with some fun stuff... and getting fed, and even paid... seeing Laura Lee firing the big .50 Cal belt fed machine gun was fun! This weekend is ur only break, we're working 6 days a week for the next little while... if I don't see you this weekend, it might not be until December! I'd love to post a photo, especially of the Alien on the car, but I'm not allowed to even bring a camera with me to work for this shoot. Laura Lee was telling me of a nedw fire gel product that is in a spray, and MUCH cheaper than the stuff they use on set... works as well or better for what we're doing too... thats it for me for now, I've had 6 hours of sleep, and 18 hours of work/travel, so now its back to sleep mode. Hey all, thansk to everyone who came out on Halloween, that was all the fun part... now I'm back into the grind... spent the night on a roof top in freezing weather doing rain for AVPII last night, and I'm off in another hour to do it again... then I get to flip around and work days all weekend, then perhaps back to nights on AVP on Monday... BUT, I may have a chance to do the Babylon 5 project, still waiting to hear... oh well, the toys make it fun! I'll post photos of the cannons when I get a chance... the big valves are over $1000 each... sigh... none for me.... yet!

so here I am, casting castles in my shop, trying to get the heater working... my big 170,000 btu heater that I only use when it gets really cold out... wait amiunte, its only 13 degrees... damn, this indian summer on the west coast has me spoiled, I think its cold out and its snowing back east... oh well, the heater doesn't work anyway, I'll have to fix it... sigh.. another things to do... oh well, I have some time while the cement sets... just got off the phone with the principal of the school where I am firing my Halloween pyrotechnics show... everythings in the channel, just need to see when and where it pops up... I'm waiting for people to come pick up the furniture that I am freecycling, I hope they don't cancel out on me, I have LOTS of stuff to get rid of... making room for the party in two weeks. I guess I should go back to hustling for work though, I wonder when I'll go back to work? the joys of the movie business... up and down... this is a down... I have work next month, but nothing right at the moment. Oh well, work on my side business, build it into the front business, let the movies be the side business.... yup... oh well, back atter...

ok, the weeks almost over, but at least I'm trying to start a new habit... ;) I'm on Master's of Horror this week, just finished the episode "The Black Cat" inspired by Edgar A. Poe... today we're finishing up parts of "The Washingtonians". Next week I'm on Men in Trees" doing SNOW! Nooooo! I said I'd never do snow again! oh well, it's a paycheque. This weekend is our Burning Man Open house, should be fun!. It's just us showing photos to anyone we can drag in off the street.... thats it for news... I'm working on getting the licenses and permits together for a Halloween Pyro Spectacular. If it comes off, I'd love it of some fire spinners want to come hang out and spin fire for the community... its a free community show, so it should be a complete blast. I'll be doing some Porpane flame effects as well... at least a dozen so far...thats it for now, back next week!

Hey all! just me starting my Blog... I'm currently sitting at home finsihing a sh%$load of taxes and wishing I was with some cool peeps... Looking forward to getting out and meeting new peeps, but first we're having a bunch of friends over for a Burning Man Open House... if you are a Vancouver Burner, drop me a line.... Its this Sat, the 30th.... I'll also be at Vcon, on the 6,7, and 8 of October.... and then there's the V3 Halloween Dance on the 21st... and our Mad Scientists Ball on the 28th... and the Community fireworks and pyrotechics specacular on the 31st.... oh yeah, then there's the Nouveau Beaujolais Party on the 17th of Nov.... Holy Crap, am I going to be busy!
