VOTE JUNE 6! SHOW YOUR PRIDE AND VALUES
Tue, June 6, 2006 - 10:14 AMHere is why:
Many key races, including the gubernatorial contest between EQCA PAC endorsed Steve Westly and his opponent Phil Angelides, will likely be extremely close. In the past two elections, key legislative races were decided by hundreds of votes. EQCA members can make the difference in many of these races.
Here is a list of EQCA PAC endorsed candidates:
Governor: Steve Westly
Seretary of State: Debra Bowen
Controller: Joe Dunn
Treasurer: Bill Lockyer
Attorney General: Rocky Delgadillo
Insurance Commissioner: Cruz M. Bustamante
Member, State Board of Equalization: Betty T. Yee
State Senator: Pat Wiggins
State Assembly: Patty Berg
In a significant break from tradition, Governor Schwarzenegger, who does not take positions on legislation that has not passed the legislature, has promised to veto the anti-bias curriculum bill before it has even had its first hearing in the Assembly. The LGBT community can send him a powerful message by turning out to vote and electing fair-minded candidates throughout California.
President Bush has announced his renewed support to write discrimination into the U.S. Constitution by amending it to prohibit marriage between same-sex couples. President Bush and his political advisors are once again attacking the LGBT community to turn out the right wing vote—and they have a key congressional race tomorrow in California.
Don’t let Arnold Schwarzenegger and George Bush get away with using the LGBT community for their selfish political need to shore up their conservative base and turn out far-right voters. Send them both a message that the LGBT community is a political force to be reckoned with by voting in record numbers tomorrow.
Today’s primary and November’s general election will decide if we have a legislature to pass the marriage bill and if we will we have a governor who will sign it. We have so much at stake here in California - now more than ever, let your voice be heard!
Sincerely,
eqca and me
