i enjoy exploring ways of living and learning that are collaborative, empowering, sustainable, creative, and playful. my hope is to support people in living joyfully and in harmony with each other and with all life on the planet.

i have spent much of my life facilitating learning in various forms, including more than ten years of teaching the theories and practices of sustainability, community building, and personal and social transformation, in settings ranging from college classrooms and study circles to gardens and mountain ranges. i have had the opportunity to work and learn alongside urban gardeners in inner-city detroit, buddhist monks in nepal, teenage organic farmers in the mountains of vermont, and downshifters in ann arbor. until the summer of 2005, i was living and working at the findhorn community -- a holistic learning center and ecovillage in northeastern scotland -- where I re-designed, coordinated, and led a college-level ecovillage-based academic study program, as well as teaching yoga and nonviolent communication (an approach to peaceful social and personal transformation).

my formal education has included master's degrees in anthropology and environmental policy, as well as extensive training in nonviolent communication, aikido (a nonviolent japanese martial art), yoga, and buddhist meditation.
