Happy News!
Hi Friends,Guess what! Ryan and I got engaged! We went to Colorado for a week and visited Crestone - where Ryan went to massage school. We hiked up to a Hindu Temple, and we got engaged in the temple! It was great! We'll post some pics. May 10, 2009 is the date, so mark your calenders. Sorry it's Mother's Day - I had trouble coordinating the place (les Bourgeois) and the cantor who's going to do the ceremony. It's going to be a fun party - hope you can make it!
Love to all!
Amy
5 year anniversary...
Today is the 5 year anniversary of the war, and I just got to drum on the steps of the capital at a peace rally! Fun! Some friends of mine showed up and started drumming - I went after work and got to borrow a drum for a little while. It was a nice rally - one of our OK state senators spoke very eloquently and then sang along to one of the organizers who was playing the guitar. I guess OKC is not so bad...Ryan rode his bike there and met me - I like how he rides his bike all over town.I get to go to the Centers For Disease Control in April to sit on a grant review panel - they pay for my travel, so what the heck!
Life has been interesting and busy!
Miss you all!
Love,
Amy
Happy Birthday to me!
Yesterday was my birthday!!! I am now 34 - wow! Ryan bought me a wireless router for the computer, so now I can talk to you all on my laptop - yea!We also got a subscription to NetFlix - I'm very excited - you can get independent films and documentaries, and tv series! Now I won't miss 9th Street Video quite as much.
Hope everyone is well.
Love to all,
Amy
Graduation Celebration!
Hi Columbia friends,Ryan and I will be in town next week - the graduation is Friday night at 8pm. Since it starts kind of late, the celebration will be on Saturday night - 5:30pm at Sophia's (on the South side of town - off of Providence). I hope you can join us!!! Feel free to tell anyone who's not on tribe. Looking foward to seeing you all!
Love,
Amy
As for Oklahoma friends, I'll have a celebration here too - stay tuned...
Just call me doctor...
Okay, it is FINALLY official! I am now officially a doctor!!! Yahoo!!!You might know that I defended on Oct. 1, but I had to make some changes, then a few more, then all of a sudden, it was all over! Hooray! I was afraid it wasn't going to happen in time for my graduation ceremony. In fact, the night after it became official I had a dream about a woman who had a still birth. She had a huge party planned for after the birth, and the party still happened, but she was quite sad during it. Isn't that symbolic?
I also had a dream about standing in a parking garage and almost being hit by a humongous tidal wave of water. Weird. It was an exciting night for sleeping.
My graduation is Dec. 14, and on the evening of the 15th, I'll be having a little celebration. If you're in Columbia, I hope you can join me.
I'll have a little celbration in OKC too.
well, I finally did it...
Well, I finally managed to defend my dissertation - thanks for everyone's support along the way! Unfortunately, I'm not quite a doctor yet, though - I have a few changes to make before it's official. They provisionally passed me - until I make the changes and send it back out - then hopefully they'll like it enough to sign the stupid form! I'm almost done with the changes, so I'll keep my fingers crossed...Graduation is Dec. 14!
