Inside Simone's Head
2007
I haven't made a post since August, I think. It's now January...Some updates:
-Loving Hampshire, but glad to be relaxing and just working at the farm over Janterm
-Cristian and I just had our 3rd anniversary, and we're "going strong" as they say
-My 20th birthday is coming up next Tuesday, January 23rd. It is also my sister Misha's 17th birthday. We're sunshine twins.
-I will be in DC for my birthday, since I will be attending Rachel Brice's 5-day workshop next week. I'm very excited to meet her, and see her dance and teach in person. I'm also going to the "work in progress" showing of "Le Serpent Rouge" by Rachel Brice, Mardi Love and Zoe Jakes. I'm really excited! I am traveling down to DC with Donna Mejia and one of my bested friends and fellow Marahh Hara member, Lydia Irons.
-I've been getting migraines, first time ever in my life. Hoping it's just my asthma meds, so I switched and seem to be doing better.
-I miss classes and my friends at school. I'm excited for spring classes. I'm taking French, Arabic, Islamic Civilization (history), and hopefully Donna's cultural dance/tribal fusion class at Smith College
-I've been missing dancing with the Marahh Hara girls, Karina, Andraya, Chelsea and Lydia. I also just miss them. Dancing alone in my room or in the kitchen while the dogs look on and think I'm crazy is just not the same.
-I have no interesting thoughts on the state of the world. It's just too complicated. So I'll end here. :)
Weekend wonders...
I had a wonderful weekend. It was my boyfriend's birthday on Friday, and we went to this great show at MASS MoCA (Bill Frisell). The trio played beneath this giant screen that played Buster Keaton slapstick and some other strange films.Saturday my lil' sis came home from her RISD Pre-College Art Program Thingy. I hadn't seen her since June, which is the longest we've ever been apart. She made some beautiful jewelry there. We visited some friends who are summering over at Hampshire, and had fun at the party that was happening there. Although, I was the only one dancing, which was a little awkward at times.
Sunday I had my boy over for a late birthday dinner. I cooked a big Baja-California style meal (which is in Mexico, by the way) and Mish (my sis) and I baked him a cake. He and I then went to the movies- Pirates of the Caribbean II- I quite enjoyed it, but found myself siding with the kraken instead of the dashing William (and Jack).
I'm off to Europe on Wednesday with my mom's side of the family for a "roots" trip to Germany/Austria/Switzerland. My grandfather grew up in southern Germany and escaped to America when Hitler took over (my great-grandfather was Jewish). Anyway, I'm looking forward to the food, beer, chocolate, castles, buildings, and people. Plus it will be great to spend time with the fan-damily.
