i left the track team because of medical reasons. all of the coaches, the trainers and my friends agreed that it would probably be the smartest thing for me to do. i'm working on being ok with my decision, and not feeling like i backed out on a responsibility. this is a lesson that sometimes you have to listen to yourself, listen to what you body is telling you (or screaming at you in my case). the plus is that rugby practices are starting up again. i'm hoping that in a week of being really low key i'll be able to jog a little and support weight on my left arm. just watch out i'll be back on the pitch before you know it!

Day 3 Volunteering in New Orleans

Today was a late start, 9.30. We worked in the morning setting up for a Santa visit to an elementary school. At noon the children started coming in. I... signed books "merry christmas, from santa" handed out presents to lots of little ones [pre-K-1st grade] At the end of the day we were fed some amazing homemade food in thanks. Kids who for the most part have been living in FEMA trailer parks for over a year, and most of them within the next month are going to be kicked out with their parents. The majority of them will have nowhere to go. Day 2 Volunteering in New Orleans

9am-2.30pm walked, played with and made food for Katrina rescued dogs 3-4.30 drove to the brad pitt pink town [common ground/upper 9] to find RUBARB bike shop got we got lost after an adventure in the suburban found it 4.30-7 picked up two x-mass trees one for a family that has 6 kids, so eight people living in a 2 room apt. they were here during the evacuation and we listened to the father's story of what it was like to be evacuated to the superdome 7-8 moved stuff into the new condo and set it up for the newly arriving volunteers, including the other x-mass tree. 8.30 went out to eat with my mother and had the a meal at Dick and Jenny's that would definitely rank in my top 5 favorite meals. tomorrow i get up at 6.30 to go on a run. work starts at 8.30.

I am going to be running the Mayor Higgins' Hot Chocolate Run to benefit for Safe Passage, my first 5k road race, on December 1st. Safe Passage provides non-judgmental support, shelter, counseling, to women, children, and families affected by domestic violence. I am running in support Safe Passage and to honor those who I know personally that have been affected by domestic violence. I am looking for donations to support Safe Passage in honor of my run. Game

Though as a team we did not win I know that I played really well on Saturday, I am really proud of how much I committed my self to the game. I have new bruises, and a concussion. My brother carried me off field at the end of the game and to a trainer because I couldn't see straight. I'm feeling a lot better after the medicine they gave me. On another note... Saturday's A Rugby Day

October 20, 2007 @ 1pm center pitch Smith College Athletic fields. The last game of the season for Smith College Rugby Club. Our colors are red and black, dress appropriately. Come and support the team. As of now we are undefeated but this is going to be one of our hardest games. oh yeah and come see me make girls eat dirt.
