Hoop dance fitness classes with Surca Noelle and Ziggy, professional performing artists and instructors, will be starting soon at Bella Studios in Wesport! This is a great form of fitness, fun, dance, and so much more. Anyone can do it!

WHAT IS HOOP DANCE???

Hoop dance is a unique, artistic genre of dance involving the use of one or more hoops through prop manipulation, rotation, and sustained spinning. Hoop dance combines sequential, complex tricks and smooth, flowing transitions to accentuate music.

Classes will be every Saturday, starting on Saturday, October 3rd at 3:00 PM. Classes will be one hour in length.

ABOUT HOOP DANCE:

The circle is one of the most ancient symbols known to man, representing the sacred hoop, unity, oneness, wholeness, infinity, and the goddess. The hoop is a holistic tool as the many benefits of hoop dance affect the mind, body, and spirit. Not only is hoop dance an excellent fitness tool giving you a full body workout, it also aids as a new form of meditative practice, boosts serotonin levels, reduces stress, brings back childlike excitement and silliness, builds confidence, and much more. Hoop dance has even been used in rehabilitation of all types, such as physical injury and emotional healing. But most of all, it’s just fun! Any size, any age, anyone can do it~




ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:

Ziggy and Surca Noelle have been attending the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance for the past 4 years. They have been teaching and performing the art of hoop dance across the Midwest since 2007.

Ziggy:
“My name is Ziggy and I'm a professional hoop dance performer and instructor. I am living proof of a true life transformation attributable to hoop dance. Just a few years ago, I was overweight, depressed, and very self conscious. When I discovered hoop dance, my life was enriched in ways I never thought possible: reducing stress, improving health, happiness, discovering my sensuality, playfulness, increasing flexibility, toning my body, boosting energy, centering my mind, body, and soul, connection to the divine, passion, confidence, zest for life, accentuation of music, moving meditation, the list goes on and on! Since I started hoop dancing about 2 years ago, I've lost almost 50 pounds and feel better than ever. All I want to do now is spread this beautiful art form to the world.” ~Ziggy

“My name is Sarah and I am a professional performer and instructor. I specialize in the art of hoop dance, opera vocal performance, theatre and community activism. I have been teaching since the summer of 2007. I specialize in working with children, but have experience teaching any age. To me, hoop dance is a respected art form that has enriched my life in so many ways. The infinite euphoria of the circle is boundless in the teachings of spiritual enlightenment and growth. With thanks to the art of hoop dance I have become a happier, healthier being. Everyone I have seen pick up a hoop has had their life changed by it in one way or another. ”

Only 2 spaces left! Classes are filling quickly, so sign up ASAP.

This class is a great parent/child bonding activity. And like I said, anyone can do it. I’ve taught women, men, large, small, children, and even an 80 year old woman. Please, no children younger than 10. Adult sized hoops will be provided for the class and also for sale, but feel free to bring your own if you have one. You may also order custom made hoops, regular and collapsible, in tons of fun colors and patterns hand made by the instructors.

I, along with my best friend Surca Noelle and Breeze (of the Kaivalya Hoop Dancers), was blessed to be hired to hoop dance at this year's Wakarusa Music Festival. We performed with 7 different bands, including EOTO, Shpongle, Boombox, Elephant Revival, Madahoochi, Dirtfoot, and a guerrilla performance in the back of Praang. It was a wonderful experience and we had the time of our lives! Definitely my favorite festival so far this summer~ Thanks to everyone who was there who made it happen and everyone who was cheering us on~
