about me
I started American Tribal Style Belly Dance in 2005 in Wollongong with my beautiful teacher Jacqueline Peperkamp, Artistic Director of 'Tribal Jewels' and 'Jewels of the Harem Belly Dance Studio'. This was where my passion for the dance was born!
I quickly grew to love the style and the accompanying warm, supportive and diverse communtiy that accompanies it. I worked my way up through the general classes, to the student troupe and finally to the professional troupe 'Tribal Jewels' which was my goal from the very beginning!
After dancing with this wonderfl group of women for about a year and a half, personal cercmstances called for a change and I moved up to Sydney and to the troupe 'Urban Qabila', yet another group of wonderful, talented ladies. From that sprang the collaboration 'Las Musas' with Deborah Napier, a fusion duet with a cheeky twist. Then the call for a change came once more and I followed my heart down to the vibrant city of Melbourne. No troupe here but some interesting new ideas, a splash of teaching and a time to recoupe and decide what's next... Along comes the idea of sea, sun and students! After making some connections at the Winter Festival 'Tribal Mosaic' I have decided to make a go of teaching in Byron Bay and have launched my ideas to the community and am starting to see the results. I can't wait to see what this new installement will bring! Surely a lot of fun and some new friends and dancing sisters! :)
