That's what S/He Said!

“Happiness is not an ideal of reason, but of imagination.”

-- Immanuel Kant

"A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

- Margaret Mead

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

- Benjamin Franklin
(Franklin's Contributions to the Conference on February 17 (III) Fri, Feb 17, 1775)

The True Peace

"The first peace, which is the most important,
is that which comes within the souls of people
when they realize their relationship,
their oneness, with the universe and all its powers,
and when they realize that at the center
of the universe dwells Wakan-Taka (the Great Spirit),
and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.
This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this.
The second peace is that which is made between two individuals,
and the third is that which is made between two nations.
But above all you should understand that there can never
be peace between nations until there is known that true peace,
which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men."

- Black Elk, Oglala Sioux & Spiritual Leader (1863 - 1950)

"Those most fortunate are those who have a wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe, pleasure, wonder, and even ecstasy."

- Abraham Maslow

"Go confidently in the direction of you dreams. Live the life you have imagined."

- Henry David Thoreau

My thinkpage

I am the Dog…

I masticate the Thesis of Circumstance,
Chew on Current Events.

I Focus on the Flavor of Factoids by the Forkful,
And Drink in raw Datum.

I am the Dog That Ate Your Homework…
The Canine of Consciousness.

Marinating in my Gullet,
The Antithesis of Wisdom
Incubates.

At Threshold of Eschatology,
Slumbering…
Syncretic Synthesis awaits Syzygy.

Just enough to answer the Question
Where did winter Go?
The cradle of a plasma flatscreen
Discarded after Christmas,
Shredded by a turbo-prop.

Just enough to create
A framework for contemplation.
Honing a lens of reflection on
Life lived in service
To heightened awareness.

Just enough to paint a backdrop
Giving contrast to a palette
Of bipedal uniqueness
And the struggle to celebrate
Myriad expressions of the Divine.

An industrial box of powdered milk
Spilled from a passing plane
Embracing the landscape
With the love of a crocheted afghan
Is enough to inspire new Questions.

WATER

Thought is Energy flowing like Water. The water starts as a drip, then evolves into a Trickle. The trickle dribbles into a clear Mountain stream, which, slowly over the millennia erodes the stoic Rock. Chi flowing in the veins of Gaia becomes a River, and then finally an Ocean. In this Ocean, all Thought, all Energy is intertwined in the Consciousness that is One. Every Molecule, every Entity, is a Point of Light that is Expanding and Contracting. Everything is a Vibration. I expand and contract, Vibrate as I Evolve, as my Consciousness expands. Too much philosophizing; Contemplation fills my Being to Capacity. It is then that I Return to my natural state of Pure Energy. I empty myself of all Existential Anchors. The Vessel is empty, the Block Uncarved. A boy rides an ox, and I continue flowing.

With Eagle Eyes
..............................

Raising energy for Positive Change…
My molecules I’d like to rearrange,
Into the guise of an Eagle.

With Eagle Eyes…
I spy,
All the highest Aeries,
Where I may seek Solace
In my Meditation.

Little Bodhisattva sittin’ in a Tree,
Do you have a little Wisdom for Me?

Swillin’ Rossi Chablis…
Mighty Irie.

Pondering what lies before me.
Into Psychedelic Windows I hope to See,
As I embrace extreme Poverty.

Soon…
I’ll be Workin’

I am Beaver of the Turtle Clan. Part 2 (in the Medicine Wheel)

“Turtle – The Turtle is a creature of the water. The Tortoise is a land dweller, going to water only to drink and bathe. There are many more species of Turtles, some of which can weigh as much as 1000 pounds, and can live as long as 100 years. There are also amphibious Tortoises and Terrapins, which spend time both on land and in the water. There are 40 types of Tortoises in the world, ranging in size from 4 pounds to 400 pounds. All contract into their hard shells to protect themselves from attack, though some, including Snapping Turtles, will bite if provoked. The naming of individual Turtles and Tortoises is imprecise and you can’t really tell which is which from their names. Box Turtles live on land, some animals named Tortoise swim much of the day and it is actually the Terrapin which is usually found in ‘turtle soup.’
This continent is called Turtle Island by many of the Native Peoples. Once, when there was only water and no place for the people and animals to live, Turtle made a great sacrifice and let everyone come and live on her back. The Turtle is the representative of the Earth and keeper of the Earth elemental. Frequently, rattles are made from Turtle’s shell to call the spirits and give more power to the sacred songs. If you need to contact the Earth Mother for knowledge and healing, Turtle can be your guide. If Turtle has come to you, you are being asked to respect the Earth more in your daily activities and to remember to give to her as well as receive from her great bounty.
Scientists can get very caught up in naming and classifying aspects of nature, as if giving them a Latin name somehow enables us to understand them better. If Turtle, the representative of Mother Earth, has come to you, you might want to ask yourself if you are too busy naming, classifying, and filing nature to be able to communicate with it and understand its messages. One person I know has a listing of all the birds he has seen during his years of bird watching. Even with all the Latin names and data, he still can’t really say he has spoken with or connected to any of them. Like so many people, he has objectified nature, making it a thing outside of himself. Heed the message of Turtle and slow down so you can appreciate life and all the wonders of Creation.”
