Carl took the weather
And put it in a cup
To drink and smiled
When the tornadoes began to swirl
And gulped the rumbling thunder
As if it were a pacifier
A thing to wrap around
In sleep and dreams of nowhere
So deep as absolute
As silence.

And science had no place
To settle in Carl's face
Which had taken this quantum leap before
On the edge of a precipice
Of burning letters and dead friends
Whose swollen bodies and gaping
Eyes stared back at him
Empty and soul less.

And in this dark space
Found a spark
A flame a fire
To burn it all and lay the land
White as snow like Vesuvius.

Carl took this leap before
And landed in the sky.

And that's where I come in.
