Chef by trade, Musician by inclination.
I compose and produce music. Though slylistically I suppose I'm a "singer/songwriter" my influences are far more diverse than a single genre; eg Sun Ra, Lee Perry, Tom Waits,70'sFunk,60'sPsychedelia,Tim Buckley,Afrobeat,NoWave,Godspeed You Black Emperor,Pharoah Sanders but I don't really sound like any of the above- they are archetypal reference points in the cosmos of recorded music. My songs aim to be both personal yet touch universal themes; I guess this is something all the most powerful music achieves. My music is a mix of electronics, samples and "real" instruments. I try not to be too obvious with samples, often dropping the needle randomly onto vinyl. I see my record collection as a map of my musical perceptions. My composional technique is a kind of electronically enhanced musical stream of consciousness.Looped abstaction+melody&structure. Explorations of paradoxes inherant in contemporary existance. It's hard to explain without sounding pretentious!
