I love this film and think it's really the most underrated John Waters movie. Everyone deservedly talks about and quotes Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble but too many people forget about the amazingly subversive, ahead-of-its-time Polyester. It has so many great quotes and characters, not to mention Odorama. Every admission this weekend includes a complimentarly Odorama scratch n' sniff card. There's nothing like seeing this film in a full theatre with hundreds of folks producing the actual fragrance of the film. It's scent-sational! Additionally, this weekend's pre-show features an encore performance by Renttecca, winner of our 2003 Filthiest Person Alive competition. We will also be holding a Project Polyester runway contest. Entrants should show up dressed to impress in polyester fabric outfits inspired by Baltimore. Polyester is the last Waters vehicle to star the almighty triumvirate: Divine, Edith Massey, and of course- Mink Stole! I'm thrilled that Ms. Stole herself will be joining us this weekend as my Polyester guest of honor. This will be her third Midnight Mass appearance and I really love it anytime I get to work with her. I grew up in Maryland worshipping at the altar of Connie Marble, Taffy Davenport, and Peggy Gravel. I'd sit and imitate their lines over and over again. Mink and I will be doing an on-stage interview, audience Q&A, and autograph signing in the lobby of the theatre. But that's not all! I really can't believe that this summer marks the 9th Annual Midnight Mass screening of Showgirls! Quite possibly, the best movie ever made, the greatest story ever told. I'm like totally excited about our upcoming screening of SING-ALONG TEEN WITCH at Midnight Mass. This was a movie that Martiny watched all the time on cable TV. She'd always suggest it for Midnight Mass and I finally had the chance to check it out. When I saw it I really did sit there with my mouth hanging open. It is - Out. Of. Control. I loved it! So, I booked it last year but Martiny moved her flawed ass to Portland! We were lucky that Joshua Miller (Teen Witch's little brother) came and made a special appearance. It was such an amazing night! The audience is obsessed with this movie. So, I had to book it again this summer and I'm thrilled to announce Martiny will be making her triumphant return to the Midnight Mass stage for this very special screening. But Martiny isn't the only special guest of the night... Robyn "Teen Witch" Lively is coming!!! ELVIRA and I... together at last!

I have to admit its been my not-so-secret dream to work with Elvira someday and I just can't believe that's it about to come true- beginning next weekend! It's fairly obvious that I adore her. So much of what I do was inspired by watching her hostess horror movies on television when I was a wee queen. I was obsessed with Elvira and Pee Wee Herman all through the 80's. Ironically, I had no idea that the actors playing these drag icons were super close friends in real life. Cassandra Peterson and Paul Reubens are two people on my Midnight Mass special guest wish list. I figure now that we've booked Cassandra for the opening weekend, I'll have to work on getting Paul for next summer's Mass (our tenth season). I'm nervous. I hope she likes me. I hope everything goes well. I desperately want her to be nice. I want us to be friends.
