<div>Hot damn! Got a great feeling this is gonna be an epic year! The DC Burner Choir has a shit ton of songs rehearsed and we sound great. The songbooks were downloaded about 500 times. The buzz is on...we should have our biggest turnout yet. Just remember...this isn't a protest....it isn't a protest...it isn't a protest...IT'S SANTARCHY! I only hope those SanTards over in NZ last year didn't raise this fun and harmless event on the LEA radars. Really folks, this is about having fun and being Santa!

OK...gotta get geared up for the "Night Before Santarchy" party!</div>

Paris...my last moments on this trip

    </a>
<div>It was a good day. A day of much walking. And walking we did do. All around the city and even up in the air. Well, that was the Eiffel Tower, but what the hell. I had a day off today with an early Saturday wake up call and long flight back to the US staring me in the face, so I decided to go old skoole tourist and just use the Force. The only thing I really wanted to get in was one of the landmarks...I usually skip the local tourist landmarks when traveling but I figured I had to hit this one up...so I waited in the long line and evesdropped on all the sparky foreign conversations (the Italians were the best!) for an hour and a half to take that long double elevator ride up to the top of the ET. And I am glad I did. It was tres cool and I got a unique perspective on Paris. It is way fucking big. From the streets it seems so managable and at a human scale, but from the top of the tower it is pretty damn sprawling. The rest of the day was spent wandering, eating and drinking, and then to the next part of the Force directed tourism experience...my only museum of the trip. I stopped off for several hours at the Musee D'Orsay and did my typical art experience thing. It is probably very upsetting and annoying to anybody who has visited a museum with me, but I just like to cruise and cruise and cruise until BAM! it hits me. The thing I want to look at for a long long time. I probably spend as much time in the museum as most patrons, but just at a different pace. I zipped on through lots of art with only a short glance and then lingered for a very long time in the pastels. Goooooooooooooooooooood shit. I did gawk at the more famous stuff there too just because it is so familiar, and the Van Gogh paintings always give me pause. I think my tragic sequestered Midwestern upbringing was really not all that bad since I had the excellent Toledo Museum of Art to visit multiple times each year. Anyways, I'm attaching a photo of one of the Van Gogh paintings I saw today. Oh yeah, and tonight I went up to Montmarte and wandered around, got some dinner, got hassled by ugly guys trying to get me to go into strip clubs, and looked at (but did not attend a show at) the Moulon Rouge. Then it was back to the hotel for some sleep and that damned early wake up call! Tomorrow...AMERICA!</div>

<div>So very good now...all work is done, nothing but fun from now until the per diem runs out....if only I had me a fine sugar momma to keep me here for a few more days or weeks or months...

So it goes. I could have stuck it out and had more time here in France, but I gave in to the late breaking fiscal responsibility that makes up my life these days (hey man, I wanna buy a house!) so i decided to take the flight home on Saturday when the government trip officially ends. Thanks taxpayers...but I got to get back home when you stop picking up the check.

Tonight was a great time...headed up to the Champs Elysées and got dinner with some coworkers at this nice cafe. As is usual here, the dinner took about 3 hours and we felt like crap for hurrying things. Jeez...I got stuff to do...I can't spend that much time eating! We had a fun walk back to the hotel...many were the laffs and fun loving events that transpired. Now I need to get to sleep so I can do the Paris death march tomorrow! Art! Culture! Food!

Ciao!

<div>Ah, what a difference a day makes! I was up on it in fine style today even though we had to work the first part of said day. I got done around 2 PM and hauled it back to the hotel, had a little chill time and then headed out to try one of the recommendations of the mighty Ms. Amy...Cafe' de Flore on blvd St-Germain. Schweet! As she predicted, I had one of the best, if not the best, espresso of my life. Dang...that was so good I had to have another, and I am not one of your world class cafe' fiends. The atmosphere was great...very hectic and calm at the same time. I was able to get in some good reading and people watching at the same time. The young lovers...they are so bold here...no shame at starting a heavy make out session or some light groping right there in public. I was crimson with shame! Following my caffeination, I strolled along the blvd back to the hotel area and stopped in for an overdose of cheese and assorted dried meat products at one of the local bistros. Cheap, yummy and just down the block. Nifty! Now with a stupid early wake up call so I can catch the bus to the conference (the whole reason you taxpayers paid your taxes so I could be here) I need to chill out and get some decent rack time. There will be time for all night debauchery soon, now that I am in the proper shape to handle it.

Love from Paris,

Sick in Paris

<div>No, not sick "of" Paris...I brought a cold over the Atlantic with me and combined that with no sleep and a full day of walking around looking at cool shite. I thought a little afternoon nap would fix me right up, and it did, for a bit. I used the "Jedi Method" to plan my first night on the town...just trust the force and jump on the Metro, knowing I would end up in the right place. All went well...I ate something indescribable (but good!) for dinner and had a few pints in this Irish Pub called "Finnegan's Wake". I jumped back on the Metro (somebody told me it stops running around midnight...how barbaric!) and headed back to the hotel. All was still going well. I got back in, cracked a nightcap beer and sent out some emails. THE NEXT MORNING...errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...exhaustion coupled with the lingering cold equalled a wasted day. Foo. I pretty much padded around all day waiting for the cold to abate so I could be in tip top form for the big dinner tonight with the Embassy folks. I'd hate to do a face plant into my entree' - not the best way to impress the diplomats. Well...I do feel much better now...perhaps a little nap and then once more into the breach!</div>

<div>Burners need booze! Read on dear one...

By order of several of the inner circle elites, I call
for a Burner Happy Hour this Friday at the Wonderland
Ballroom! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

WHAT: Burner Happy Hour. Hot Damn!

WHERE: The Wonderland Ballroom - 1101 Kenyon St. NW,
Washington, DC 20009 (several blocks from the Columbia
Heights Metro on the Green Line)

The website is here:

http://www.thewonderlandballroom.com/

Maps and stuff are located there if you are going to
drive or walk from the Metro.

WHEN: This Friday, Feb 10th starting around 7PM and
going until an unknown time in the future.

HOW: Show up. Look for Burners. Add alcohol and
enjoy.

WHY: It is a cold and miserable time of year and we
all need a little warmth to get us through. Plus, I
like to drink.

Hope to see all of you (both inner circle elites and
wretched newbies) there on Friday!

Booger

PS - That bit about "wretched newbies" was sarcasm, of course...

<div>I called in the troops for the first DC Burner Happy Hour in many a moon and there was a big turn out...thank Jah. People actually found out about us through Tribe and the various local Burner lists and showed up to see what we were all about. I don't think anybody was too frightened or disgusted. This is how we grow and mutate and take over the minds of our future fire cultists. I had a vibrant, delicious good time sharing stories from Transformus last weekend and made plans with some of the good folk to make it out to the Black Cat tonight for BritPop night...lots and lots of good old music from those far off lands of mystery and intrigue. Sunday should be a bit throbby at first as I can tell it might be a late night from the way I feel right now...eager for a little blowing off of steam and such. I can't get too outasight as I need to pack for a biz trip on Monday...one full week touring mines and learning about mining in Colorado! Woot! What a life!!!</div>
