We are all fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.
Japanese folk saying
Let yourself breathe and trust.
It is only by a courageous letting go
that the heart becomes free.
This is called the wisdom of insecurity.
Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature,
nor do children as a whole experience it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run
than outright exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure
or nothing.

Thirst, by Sage Cohen
We understand least
what we hold closest.
Cup contains, water resists.
Thirst: a lineage of cups
with no trust in the future.
What wakes you up in the night
mouth empty, sheets blank
might be the faucet’s dumb neck
arched with a brassy assurance
that you have not yet learned to tap.

The Summer Day
by Mary Oliver
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean—
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down—
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't kno...

So little sleep. So much still to do. Although I'm not complaining, per se. :)
I had an amazing salad today at my friend's restaurant, Riva Cucina. It was an incredibly simple, but perfectly dressed composition of radicchio and crispy chickpeas. I got to catch up with an old friend and colleague I hadn't seen in about 6 or 7 years. Amazing how time flies, and yet how little some things change. Thank goodness for old friends.
Last night I went to this super luxo wine/champagne tasting e...

Paiate Stone, by Sage Cohen
let this moment be enough
ownership cannot survive
its illusions
beyond the fence
dividing wrong from right
shines the simple stone
of gratitude
the ripening of the earth
the mind grown
quiet with time

She is fierce and giving, vulnerable and resilient. Easily wields the power to launch a thousand ships, with her at the helm of each. Through many incarnations, Sarah remains a straightforward girl with endless sophistication.
My perfect foil. Never yet foiled.

The wonderful thing about Sarah
Is Sarah's a wonderful thing
She's bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN!
But the most wonderful thing about Sarah
Is she's the only one
