My Blog

so with both Aloha & ATA shutting their doors this week, it is a lot more expensive to get off island. i had a ticket to go to los angeles on 04-12-08 via ATA but now it looks like it is a no go. i've been on hold with southwest for over a hour to see if they can re-schedule me, but while on hold i thought i would re-price my ticket just in case they can't help me. my ticket is now in the $1000+ range!!!!

I guess after 68 minutes the lame elevator music stops and you just get silence ... read more

well, it's been a couple of years now that we moved to hawaii and i was thinking of some things i miss from los angeles, that i don’t have on the island:

museums
contemporary furniture
industrial music
el pueblo viejo, or any good spicy mexican food
trader joe's
bar sinister
fashion, other than yoga pants & tank tops
amazing smog infested sunsets
bourgeois pig
knowing i can see a film on the release date, rather than whenever it happens to come to the island.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among... read more

Excerpted from Against Happiness by Eric G. Wilson.

The gene pool — before and beyond time — froths and sloshes. What flops up onto the temporal shores is a matter of chance, a product of the waves' whims. At some point this teeming reservoir of DNA spumes forth a saturnine gene, a double helix destined to produce melancholy dispositions. From this instant onward what we know as human history begins: that striving, seemingly endless, toward an ungraspable perfection, that tragic effort to ... read more

So, it's that time of year when most everybody is glued to their TV watching a bunch of tight knicker wearing muscle bound adrenaline junkies kick around a pigskin. If you know me at all, you know I don't even know who is playing this year, or any year for that matter.

I instead watched the old classic "Cool Hand Luke" thanks to Netflix's instant viewing. Still one of my favorite opening scenes and anti-heroes.

I've been sitting and listening to the rain pound on the roof (hoping th... read more

My Testimonials

December 19, 2006
She may or may not be an Aries, but she definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. She's sweet, has style, is a great cook, has good taste in tv/movies, and is a great lover of animals. The animals love her too and she is certified Moby approved.

(Don't tell her you like Keanu Reeves, she might bite you)

So in a crazy world where nothing in ever certain, one thing always is....the lameness of my friend Xian. She is the second lamest person I know....I am the first. The one thing I love best about her is that she has a low bullshit threshold and will tell you flat out when you are full of it. She keeps me in check.

Not only all that, but she is a great friend - no matter how much time elapses between talking or hanging out, she remains a true friend - after 4 months of not seeing each other, she still remembered the Ho Ho's.
