I spend a lot of time cleaning up dog drool. I drink too much coffee and clean up poop far more than any person should ever have to (potty training is great).

Yossarian's broken neck is a pain in my... neck (blog entry) So we went to the Springfield Animal Hospital today and Yossarian has an impacted salivary gland which is surrounded by a big huge hematoma. This is most likely caused by blunt trauma (kicked by one of the horses maybe). So hes on a high dose of a... read more

My Blog

I haven't posted a blog in quite sometime now... Oh well life has been keeping me busy. Galatea and I are at home today. She has a very high fever last night so we are spending the day pushing fluids, taking meds every 4 hours and hopefully taking a nap soon. Steel if fine and is at school. He has 4 more days until school gets out and then hes off to his dads for the summer.
The heat wave is over here and we are back in the high 70's today. We had some amazing thunderstorms here last night ... read more

So we went to the Springfield Animal Hospital today and Yossarian has an impacted salivary gland which is surrounded by a big huge hematoma. This is most likely caused by blunt trauma (kicked by one of the horses maybe). So hes on a high dose of antibiotics for 14 day and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory for 7 days. we'll recheck on the 25th and if it hasn't completely resolved at that point he'll have surgery the following Monday or Tuesday. So the ophthalmologist visit will be put off unt... read more

So last night about 11:00 I looked over and thought that Yossarians collar looked like it was too tight. I went over to loosen it and discovered a huge lump on his neck. I went back and forth about whether or not I should bring him into work last night or this morning. It was late and he's a bit crazy so I decided on this morning. I brought him in to work and ran some bloodwork and did 2 cytologies and didn't get conclusive answers. So I would have to guess with as fast as his neck swelled up... read more

So I did so research today on cherry eye repairs and surgery options. Well come to find out the surgery that Dr.Sandy tried only has about a 50% success rate on Mastiff's so I have decided to take him to a specialist. The next surgery will be done in Boston and its a little more involved than the last surgery. But I think that with his other eye problems and his already impaired vision that a specialist should fix it this time. I'm bringing him next week for the doctor down there to look at... read more

So Yossarian's surgery was a complete failure. Not only did the surgery not do what it was suppose to do it is actually causing his a lot of eye irritation. His lower lid is so swollen that his upper eyelid is now rubbing the inside of his lower lid when he closes his eye. So his eyes all goopey and gross. So his next Surgery will either be on Thursday or next Wednesday. Maybe this time we'll get it right. Thats all the news I have so far.
