AUM Festival Review

   Wed, August 1, 2007 - 3:14 PM
The post AUM feeling I have been having is incredible. AUM was like no other party I have been to. There were so many elements that this fesival presented that truly made it such an unforgettable experience for me. I arrived at nighttime on Friday so I was in for a treat when the sun arrose. I couldn't believe how beautiful the venue was. I went for a walk, filled with amazement at the beauty and the openess of it. There was enough room for everything. The tapestries were a huge treat for me. I have never seen such large and beautiful tapestries before. Usually there is a lot of smaller ones but the big ones really add a sense of space and freedom. The tapestries really coincided with music quite well. From the alien beaming intelligence to the outer cosmos on top of the sound stage, to the beautiful tree of death, truly a great specticle to see.

The music was truly unforgetable. Truly epic. I have never heard so much beaufiful dark music in my life. I love dark music. The music at this party was very powerful, and the quality of the music was mindbending. There were so many moments where I felt the sheer power and awe of the music. I left feeling so clensed, refreshed. I was blown away by Monks of Madness, amazing stuff. It was so groovy and powerfully psychedelic, I love the energy it brings fourth. Every one was FREAKIN OUT!!!! It was such a good sight that made me feel like freakin out myself...I did. The people on the dance floor were some of best ever, great energy and vibe. Everyone was having the times of their lives. Eg-nog-ra was amazing. I have never really bothered to use lables like neuro but this was it. It was so dark and beautiful. So aggressive yet in a way so peaceful. A sonic beatdown to clean all negative energys away, and restore fresh powerful energy in its place. Ghregg on earth was awsome, real heady brain music. It was so delightful to hear it at a slower bpm. It really brings out the richness and earthyness of his sound. Deep fryer killed it with his blend of crispy deep fried scando madness. I loved Lauren and Megan in the morning, powerful music for the morning stompers. It was great to hear paradigm in the morning...er afternoon. Flawless mixing and tight morning stompers is what this guy delivered. Two breakfast highlights, Paradigm and OOZE. It was a squirrly free for all when Scott took control of the system and started talking shit, ooze rocked, I love their sound.

Freedom and Shagee played phenominal twisted dark nighttime music, I love these guys. Thanks for being flexible and working with us solving the little time snafoo, that is the way shit ought to be. I would have to say that some of my personal favorate acts of this weekend were definelty Onomon and DiMiTree, and Mubali. Onomon was one of the funnest sets I have heard in a while, beautiful bouncy and so musical, it was so awsome to take in those tunes. Dimitree progressed through darker sounds to squeeky boucncy morning springiness, very fun. Mubali's sound has changed so much since the last time we brought him out to PsyOwa, and I love it. So much groove and ass shakin flow it makes your head spin. I danced my ass off, it sounded so good and rythmic. The sound at this party was awsome...when they turned it up, finally! I thank Bodhi for believing in that WE LIKE IT LOUD!

To see trance in America be as good as it is is one of the most refreshing and invigorating things I know. I think the differences that you see at American parties is what makes them so special. We have such an amazing family that is filled with rich and colorful people. I really sympathize with the fact that the numbers were not that great, as promoters this is an unfourtunate inevidability that happens. But despite the numbers not being there it was made up for in the vibe. THe dancefloor was non-stop...the frickin way it should be! You saw that the people that were there were LOVING IT. Seeing that satisfaction on everyones faces kept building and buiding until everyone was just speachless with joy. I agree that this festival should be focused on every year. With collective effort I believe that this is perfectly feasable. With all the things that were learned from this event assures the next one is going to be much smoother and be even better than this year. This is a good goal to shoot for. With things developing and evolving the way they are here in the US this event has a possibility of becoming the mecca of trance partys here in the US. And that would be a great thing to see.

So thank you everyone that made this unforgettable event possible. Thank you for providing this amazing experience. I got so much amazing enlightenment from it. I hope that everyones decompression is floating along swimmingly. I feel so good about the trance scene here in america after this weekend. Who ever says its not goan here in the us on prolly missed AUM. It was so awsome to meet a lot of the faces that I only knew as net handles, the psy family is growing so fast. Great to see a lot of faces I recognized from California, big hugs to the whole cali family, you guys rock. Keep it goan people, everyone rocked this weekend and I hope everyone feels GREAT. Give yourselves a pat on the back and a hug, ya'll deserve it.

Big Boom and Namaste from PsyOwa,

Nick

thanks for posting a review
i enjoyed reading this thoroughly... and i am excited, to say the least, in your summation of the psy movement in the US as a whole!

eg nog ra is certainly a treat... i met him at a mojave party in 05 where he had assembled a video presentation for the lunatic event featuring 'the nomad' and his XLR8R... which, in fact, was the reason i drove four hours out to the desert with my son for our very first psytrance event...

i would be interested in hearing about, or seeing images of, the altars which had been planned for the event... i am feeling a bit sad that i was unable to convince my consciousness that it was entirely possible for me to attend...

thanks again for the review aktif

Well said Nick, well said. For me, the dance-floor @ AUM was one of the most special I've ever participated in. Everyone there had a deep passion for the music and it showed by the never ending frolicking frenzy the dance-floor was constantly comprised of. The music was so on point also..so much kick arse psy-trance I couldn't contain myself, and didn't. Hell yea.
